Check what resolution the scanner is set for. It may be trying to produce max resolution when you should be starting at a default of about 300dpi.

I think it is a formatter board problem or a firmware one. It's possible to be crashed due to a power failure. First, verify if the product it is or not on waranty. Second, try to update your firmware if it is possible. You will find the update file and the procedure on HP webpage at "Drivers and Support" section. If the update won't solve the problem, verify if the formatter board is correctly plugged. Eventually pull it out and push it back firmly.

Try this: 1) With the printer turned on, unplug it from the main power supply, then press the power button for 30 seconds or so. Power back on and see. If doesn't work, 2) Clean the glass and white background material If that doesn't work, 3) check the scanner bulb assembly: is it able to move freely? Also, the scanner bulb may need replacing. Experience: I had an HP printer giving the same problem. I was encouraged to buy another printer by support team (scanner bulbs may not be sold just like that). I got another printer not working at all (different make) and used the bulb from that one and I stopped getting the error and printer worked perfectly. If you can get a similar scanner assembly - preferably for the same make, then do so.

The printing scanner (laser) has likely failed. HP has had some issues with the series of products and bad laser scanners so you may want to contact their customer service to see if you can get it fixed under warranty.

That is not what they asked. They said half the thumbnail is showing and they need the full thumbnail. They are getting the confirmation page but only half of it is showing instead of the full page. Plese read the question in the future.
