Philips 42PFP5332D 42 in. Plasma Television Questions & Answers
Dont turn on
That might be it but 450 WV is a filter capacitor rating. IF you have those that are bad, there are others.

HOW DO I REPLACE CAPACITORS ON A PHILLIPS 42PFP5332D/37
First :Each (I will provide a photo) has a - which is negative and a plus which is positive--only two solder connections each. There is also a black stripe on the negative side. The caps are also marked each with a value like: 1,000 uf 250vdc which is the one in the photo: 1,000 micro farad at 250 volts dc.I usually make a diagram of the area as each cap will have a "location" number printed on top and/or bottom of the board.Once you have identified each by location and value remove them by unsoldering (small iron). These parts once identified are cheap--with a list of what you need try SUBURBAN ELECTRONICS WHERE you will find them cheaper--figure for 4 caps under 20 total--or with the list check with a local source but expect to maybe pay more.A REAL CAUTION HERE: SINCE YOU MUST REMOVE THE BACK OF THE SET IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT THAT YOU ARE CAREFUL AS THE SET MUST BE LAID FACE DOWN TO REMOVE THE COVER.It is very easy to damage/destroy the front screen which is fatal. It must be laid on a well padded surface which also supports the entire area (frame) around the screen--Use no downward force when removing rear cover.Just follow the cord into the set to the power board and look for the caps that are puffed up.let me know if you have questions
Cap as described

I have a Phillips 42PFP5332D/37E
Good day!!!
please try to disconnect the y-sustain and x sustain board to determine if that is the problem then try to power it ON...
if you can't hear the pop when you do that or the red LED is not flashing red..the problem could be the one of that board it could be the x or y so lets find it...
power it off again and try to connect one of that board only..if hear the pop or flashes red on your TV if you connect one of that board..that is the problem..for example: if you connect the y-sustain on the TV and you hear the pop and flashes red that is the problem..also try that procedure to test the x sustain board...

How do you find the
Carefully remove the back of the TV. If you have a grounding strap, wear it. If not, always keep one hand on the TV and use the other hand when ''rooting around'' back there to prevent shock damage. The power supply will be large, and very heavy. Here is a link to what it could look like - this link is a list of all possible power supplies in your model along with photos.
http://www.shopjimmy.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=42PFP5332D+power
Once you find the power supply, locate a part number on a sticker or the board itself and match that up to one of the power supplies from the link. Leave the power supply inside the TV until you have the replacement in your hot little hands, so you can remember how it went in etc.

My TV keeps clicking on
I am not an expert but i had a similar issue last week so I will tell u what we did and it only costed 40 dollars to fix. I found the solution on line. My tv was clicking over and over but wouldnt come on, it too is a 42 inch plasma. If u look on at the back of the TV in the middle toward the bottom you will see to blinkin green lights. We unplugged our TV waited 20 min to insure that there was no stored current left in the tv , then we removed the back and in the top middle there is a power suppy board. There are capacitors on the board you will have to look at them and some will be flat at the end if u see one that is puffed out at the end then it needs to be replaced.I have inserted a picture of a capacitor below that is bad(or puffed out). Hopefully it will help, not the best resolution but was the only one I could find as an example. We had two that were blown, The capacitors are cheap from 1.20 to 4.00, we dont have a clue how to soder and we didnt want to tear more up so we took ours to a professional he replace the two bad capacitors and we piced it up a few hours later and put it back in our tv and it came right back on. So before you spend big bucks look at the power supply board, and see if you have any burnt out capacitor because to replace that whole board is between 160 -210. If that is your problem, when you call the tv repair place make sure you tell them exactly whats wrong and exactly what you want done. That way they know they cant rip you off. We took pictures of ours before we took it to them so we could make sure they didnt remove anything. Not saying you cant trust repair men but, there are some out there that you have to avoid.

I have a 42 inch
hey
if last time it blew a fuse and this time it's not powering up.
something tells me it's the main Chopper FET in the SMPS
these sometimes become leaky because of noisy power...if your on the same powerline as an industrial area you can get very bad power transients and spikes that just love to blow sensitive stuff like Switch Mode Power Supplys apart!
sorry gonna have to pay the big bucks to get it fixed :-(!
but next time around use a power protector.
hope this helps,ben
