Good day!!!
That problem is usually cause of faulty capacitors on the power supply board..
Just follow this instruction to fix your TV..
1. Open the back cover of your TV.
2. Look at the power supply board..Its normally connected to the power cord..
3. After that,,try to look at the actual image of capacitors if it is bulged on the top so that you can easily determine the bad capacitors..
4. After that,,try to replaced the bad capacitors using soldering iron and soldering lead..replaced the capacitors only with the same type ratings and value..
5. Some of the capacitors not bulged so its better if have a capacitance meter

vscan is a voltage used to setup the picture for the panal. It goes to the y sus board. The problem is at the power supply or the y sus board. You can check these with a meter.

Measure the connector from the logic board to the power supply the second pin from the left it will say Vs_ On if the set has 3.1 volts the problem is the SSB or the logic board. On the logic board there should be a solid led and a flashing led that shown that data id flowing and the problem is the SSB. The SSB is easy to replace just remember what you tokk loose and from where. You probely will save money that way. If the set is in warranty or just out of warranty contact Philips 1-888-744-5477 and see what they can do first.

It's a power supply related problem.
The flashing 8 times is a trouble code. A Service Manual for your TV model will have the info on the codes. It could be a bad capacitor or a transformer on the power supply board. If you have some electronic experience, you can find a Service Manual for your TV over the internet. Cost about under $20.

Are there any blown caps on the PSB-power supply board. Most sets have sammy boards and they used very shotty caps. If there are no visual clues being a poped cap at the top (X) they simply often do vaporize and dry out. The YSUS-Main and the 2 Y buffer boards control the picture OSD-on screen display. Your not getting any of that. So power supply is where you start first. The YBU-upper and the YBL-lower control the upper and lower OSD the Ysus main control both of them. Usually if you have one in the door you have to replace all 3. But not always. If you were to replace any of the boards I would replace the YSUS-Main, or get the board reworked at a pc repair shop that does board level test and repai. Its more cost effective.

I also have a 42PFP5332 Plilips Plasma TV. The panel and boards are Samsung, including the power supply.
My problem is similar to yours, except my TV blinks 6X on FRONT OF TV, and 8X on POWER SUPPLY DAUGHTERBOARD.
The cause of my error (also written on the circuit board) is "Thermal" but the cause of this error is still unknown.
Read my original FIXYA post below:

I'm also interested to do component level repair, and have already replaced 3 or 4 capacitors, but still the same problem. As I indicated in my other post, the problem definitely seems to be the power supply since it even happens with the power supply removed from the TV and disconnected from ALL other boards such as YSUS, SSB, etc...
I hope we can work together to fix our TVs.
My power supply board is Samsung LJ41-05253A (PS-507-PHN)
Do you have a service manual?
@ Unspun01;
We don't have the same pcb, mine is also a Samsung but an other type: LJ44-00143A. the test you did, removing the PSU, gives me the same result so I also think it's a power issue.
I disconnected both display units (SX & SY) but still the board falls back in to blinking 10 times.
I do have a service manual and did a search for a solution but couldn't find any.
I can send you the service manual if you want me to.
