How to check True GDM-49 defrost timer?

The model KSRG25FK has a W10353224 Defrost Control Board that is also used as Adaptive defrost meaning it tries to conserve defrost to prevent repeated defrost that timers use, This tends to save wasted energy yet has its problems of its own because it is electronic and as always electronics fail. The word adaptive is used because the electronic defrost attempts to prevent unneeded defrost to save energy. I will try to explain while using Whirlpools Service Manual without provoking Whirlpools multiple defrost systems Copyright Material. I can not get water

NOTE: This
is a multi-solution answer since I don't have all the tech from your question to pinpoint your problem
But the solution is in here generically, if you read and study the solutions very,very carefully.
Check Temp inside freezer. It has to be down to about 10 or 15 degrees
This can cause slow ice making if its too high even tho its freezing everything else at 25 degrees
The ref. temp should be about 33-35
The Freezer temp should be 0 to 10 Any thing below these temps is overkill and a waste of elect
The higher the number you turn it up to is the coldest
The icemaker is 110v
See if water is in icemaker.
Pour water in Ice Maker and wait to see if it ejects.
If it ejects thenyou need to replace water valve in rear bottom of fridge(Its the part that
attaches to water line out of wall)
If it doesn't eject then it is a faulty Ice Maker.
If its leaking or no water at icemaker or door either one, then the valve at the rear bottom of ref needs replacing
I would check the fan in the freezer. Listen to see if it is running
It moves air to the ref from the freezer
Then check to see if freezer control is turned WARMER, which makes the Ref. colder
Also if it is getting drinking water to the door but not to the icemaker (or vice versa) Then you need to replace
the water valve at the bottom rear of the fridge. It is a double valve and one side is not working
Also this might be a common Defrost problem, Ice
is not being melted by the defrost system.The fan can't blow through the coils into the fridge.
Take out back panel of freezer to check for ice buildup. The coils should be clean.

First I would check cold control. Thats where you turn it off, if your temp is not warm. it can
be defective and not shutting off. If your temp is warm proceed with the following.
I would check the fan in the freezer. Listen to see if it is running
It moves air to the ref from the freezer
Then check to see if FREEZER CONTROL is turned WARMER WHICH MAKES THE REF COLDER AND VICE-VERSA. SEE?
The ref. temp should be about 33-35

Every few days we have water under out fridge /

The drain in the freezer behind back lower panel
needs opening. You can see it at the bottom of the back panel
underneath the evaporator coils. (The cold coils)
Run Hot water in the drain until it clears or use a hairdryer.
When the defrost melts the water it goes down the drain
If the drain is clogged with Ice or ? The defrost water
overflows into the ref. or freezer or on floor
Run Hot water in the drain until it clears or use a hairdryer.

Every few days i have

First check to make sure that the fan that blows across the condenser coil and drip pan is functioning. If it isn't that would explain why the water is being evaporated from the heat of the condenser coils and compressor. If it is turning when the compressor is active the the part number you are looking for is 2188874

A certain amount of drainage is normal because you have a frost free unit. But your drip pan should be able to handle that through normal orperation (unless you are living in a extremely humid environment). If it can't then you might have a leak in the water dispenser or ice maker lines or components.

The handle on the front

Hi.

The handles are retained by tiny screws. You will need an allen key to tighten the screws. If the handle is damaged you will need to replace the part. If you need to replace the handle buy the single handle rather than the kit. The kit will be more expensive.

water filter indicator light changes to red OR water flow to your

water dispenser or ice maker decreases noticeably. See

"Changing theWater Filter Cartridge" later in this section.

After changing the water filter cartridge, reset the water filter

status light by pressing the light switch 5 times within
10 seconds. The water filter status light will change from red to
green when the system is reset.

Hello, I have a Kitchenaid

It's really up to you, to decide whether you want your refrigerator to be fix or replaced and buy a new one. You need to calculate the cost between repair cost and the price of a new refrigerator. Which one is suited your budget plus the convenient of the trouble free unit for many years to come.
Since your refrigerator is about 12 years old already and it's undergo several repair, including the most expensive compressor replacement. I think it's economical to spend for a brand new unit.
New unit have service warranty of about one year, it will take many years before it undergo service repair if you use and treat it with proper care.
Good luck on your decision.

Side by side refrigator door

Hi

In kitchen aid refrigerators usually gravity is closed along with the magnets in the door seals. When the magnets seals are getting old then this type of issue occur. To solve this issue you have to raise the front of the unit by lowering the front wheels and then pull the grill from the front to find the leveling screws. Then make sure that the door is swing shut and leveled before replacing the cabinet. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.
