Since this digital camera is an older model, it probably isn't compatible with 2GB memory cards. Insert your memory card into your computer's reader if you have one. If not, you can purchase a multi-format USB Memory Card reader from Amazon.com or Buy.com

2 Open up 'My Computer'. You should see it under the list of available drives.

3 Check its contents first to make sure that you have the right drive.

4 In 'My Computer', right-click on the drive and choose 'Format'.

5 Leave all the options as they are and click on 'Start'. This is a non-reversible process so make sure this is what you truly wanted to do in the first place.

6 Once the process is completed, take the memory card out and insert it into your Digital Camera or any other device. Try to browse to it to make sure it works fine now.

You need to format the card in the camera.

it sounds like you had a fulty camera to start with thats why it never stored your photos and hooking it up to the computer just pushed it over the edge with the belt it got off the usb port,,, i think its now seen better days,,, its realy not worth getting it fixed as the price would be close to the price of a new camera

Take the write protect off by taking the card out of the camera, face the card towards you, look for a small white tab on the left hand side of the card, to unlock it push the tab down, it will be at the side of the card like this .
Also in the camera's menu you can format the card once the write protect lock is off.

Thank you for using fixya. SD cards have a security lock on the side that you can toggle left to right or up and down.Check your card if it is on the secure mode or not, or you can just toggle the switch then check if it will start saving captures from your camera.
