I'm not an expert with plasma's but I repaired a 42" version of your set. It was a faulty Y sustain board. I would start with checking the fuses on the Y sustain (should be on the left side of the set under the steel cross member) and on the Z sustain( right side of the set).

I have fixed a few tv's that were flat screens and the problem is almost always a capasitor. They use the cheepest from china, look for a bulge on one on the power side although they are not always noticable.

Be aware the set and ANY cable or sat type box connected to it both have the CC feature, it may not be coming from the set if it shows off but from the box or receiver hooked in line to it.

Try a hard reset to this TV. To make it a hard reset, unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket and re-plug it back after 20 minutes or so. If this do not help you, make sure that the main system memory IC of your TV has damaged, and has to be replaced.

Call vizio's customer support line and tell them you got the 'pop of death', They know this tv is a lemon and are standing behind it to make it right. They will take down your info and serial number and set up a repair order FREE OF CHARGE. When I called, they told me that this model was know to have serious defects and was given a lifetime manufacturer warranty to cover all parts and labor! What happens is that they send someone out, he pronounces the TV to be dead and not worth fixing and they give you a brand spankin new one! This way they get a better reputation by 'covering' their duds but reality is that they don't have to keep fixing this tv if they replace it with a model that only has one year MFG warranty. Either way you win. Post back if you get a different result from calling Vizio. I'd like to know how everyone else's experience is turning out.

Just look at the port and find out whether anything stuck there, especially any metal part or wire. Change the input device to some other that you are sure works. Try changing the input selection to all available. Also check whether the Power Cord has come off from the rear by mistake. Check whether the power outlet is on. If none of these work, this may be referred to a qualified service technician.

I would start looking for a new set, replacement parts for that set are pricey. Trust me, I just recycled a P50HDTV10A that had a busted screen. I couldn't believe what the parts sold for !!! I don't know your preference LCD or PLASMA, but prices have really come down. So if it's in you budget, treat yourself to a new TV !!! Whatever you do, don't just toss the old set in the trash, toss that puppy on Craigslist and If you can get $50-$70 for it, take the money and run !!!

Somehow when switching between the tv and the dvd my wife encountered the pink and green, thin, parallel, vertical lines on the screen. The picture was visible with the lines. I turned the tv off and on but the problem persisted. Unplugged tv for about two minutes and after plugging it back in and turning it on the vertical lines very gone and the picture was back to normal.

It is showing some protection error and might need attention by a qualified service technician.

There are some loose contacts either at the input. Connect the input device to another TV. If it works, then try using the headphone in the TV, if it works, there is a loose contact inside the TV and might need attention by a qualified service technician.

Go for a surround system amplifier with speakers, that is the best choice you have and you might love the results, I am sure!

Check the back of your set there are 2 Audio RCA Jacks, You can't do it with an amplifier alone because that won't split the channels to 4. You have to go to a surround sound receiver.
