Defective fryer
There is nothing better that some fish and chips but I don't think this fryer is the one for that. The reviews I have researched say it is unreliable and dangerous due to the lid pops of at high heat. Maybe you can return it for a refund I don't know. Wish I had better news for you but I don't. The best southern way to deep fry is in a cast iron pan. A BIG one! Season it and start cooking! Cholesterol? Whats that? Have a great day and hope this helped you.

It will not turn on.
In that case the fault is in the power source/controller of the fryer.You will gonna have to open it and test in this order: the power wire and its connectors, the control board switches, the mechanical timer, the thermostat and finally the electric resistance itself. A simple ohmmeter will be enough and just make sure it's unplugged when you do it.
If the problem is in the thermostat or the resistance then the fryer is dead - replacing them with new ones will cost you more than an entire new fryer.
