it might be the battery take it out and put it back in. if that doesn't work then try a new battery. or it may be cheaper just to get a new camera.

Take out all all software that you have installed and drivers . See if Vista will see it on its own. Strictly speaking cameras being USB devices do not need drivers or any other software. Just let Windows[Even Vista] do the work. Though having said that Vista is in big trouble with stuff that do need drivers.

There may be dirt stuck in by the button. I would try and clean it out and see if that would help.

The track inside of the lens and maybe other damage has been done. This is something that you cannot do yourself, unless you are trained, have access to the parts, and experience in camera servicing.

You should send the camera to the manufacture authorized service rep for an estimate.

samsung digitmax d73 zoom lens will not retract, just pull lens outward gently it will click, then turn on camra ,you should be able to zoom now turn off camra lens should return & close

Hi Everyone, I fixed my problem by sending the camera to a designated camera repair shop. They fixed my camera without erasing the pictures that I had saved on there. What savy_7 says is true, however if your problem is a lens problem no type of batteries will make the camera work. Go through the online repair process (go to the library or internet cafe if you have to), if you are within your warrenty period then the repair is free you just have to pay for postage one way. Well cleaning will not be easy- you could try vacuuming it to see if any dirt can be sucked out, But yes a new camera is the more economical option and you will get the latest spec too.

It sounds as though your lens is jammed. The clicking sound is likely the camera trying to open the lens and failing, then it turns itself off. Check with your manufacturer for recalls and technical bullitins. See if they will service the camera under warranty. Looking at the manual Samsung only guarantee support for cards up to 1GB so I guess your new card won't work in this camera. Perhaps you can take the card & camera to your supplier and try other manufacturer's cards or just lower capacity.

Yes it is possible, if you can get the display. This is a very delicate operation. Watch makers stuff. The flex circuit coming off the display is very, very delicate. Remove all screws around the camera body (6 of them)and very carefully pry it apart. The top snaps in place. Remove two screws from the display frame and gently remove the screen. The flex circuit is connected by a micro miniture connector. Unlock the connector by sliding the lock tab on each end. Break it and you are hosed! The flex circuit has no connector and alignment when inserting it is critical. Push the lock tabs back in place. You'll need a very steady hand and tweezers. After replacing the screen power up to test it. If it works, you're home free. Reverse order to put it back together. Break anything...buy a new one. Good Luck
