My router disconnects all the time

CONTINUAL DISCONNECTION OF WIRELESS CONNECTION There are a few things that can cause you to lose wireless connection with your wireless router. 1. Weak signal strength, check the signal strength on your wireless card. If it is weak move the wireless router away from brick or concrete walls and if possible locate the wireless router higher up. 2. Have you secured your wireless router from people near your from unauthorized access? i.e. change the default password, setup encryption use WPA2 or WPA, change the default SSID, and turn off SSID broadcast, and for added protection, enable MAC address filtering which allows only the MAC address/es of your wireless card/s to connect to your wireless router. 3. You could be getting interference from electrical sources such as air conditioners, arc welders, washing machines etc. If so, the power supply to the wireless routers and computers etc should be connected to a surge protection power board, better still connect your computer equipment to an UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply). 4. Check the channels of the wireless routers and access points in your area and change the broadcast channel on your wireless router to an unused channel or one that is currently used but has the weakest signal strength. This will minimize interference with your wireless router from other wireless routers and access points in your area.

How do i connect

first you must have an ISP Internet Service provider contract which will provide you with a modem and leads you can choose either a dial up usb or an ethernet connection to connect to the internet or if you have a laptop you can choose a wireless usb modem which can work on a desktop aswell once you recieve the modem just insert the disk provided and follow the prompts to set up your new internet connection during the setup process you will be asked for a password I suggest you make a log of all pass words used outside of your computer incase of memory lapses if you already have an internet provider you will have to open up your network connections click start control panel network connections this may vary depending on your operating system look for local area connection if you see a red X or a yellow exclamation or question mark ! ? you will need to update or install the driver or it could be firewalled click start control panel administration tools computer management device manager scroll to network adapters should see a yellow question mark? right click install drivers the driver might be on the disc supplied by your ISP internet service provider or the motherboard disc or you might download one if you dont have on a disk Make sure you Ethernet is enabled in bios restart your computer during the boot up process you will see on your screen a certain key to press to enter set up (BIOS) press and hold that key to enter bios using arrow keys scroll to intergrated peripherals look for SiS On Chip Pci Device press enter scroll to SiS 10/100m press enter make sure its enabledihope it helps

I need to log into my router which is an SMC

Normaly you do not need to open any ports for XBOX LIVE, XBOX LIVE uses the web connection that you'r XBOX uses to connect to the internet, unless you are using something i don't know, my son is using XBOX LIVE and i never had to open any ports on my router/fierwall.

if you can't remember the login for the SMC just reset it to factory, then login with SMC default user and password
