Sound problem

You have a shorted speaker or a speaker with a bad voice coil. This has been confirmed by the fact that the audio amplifier is shutting down (protection) but the unit stays powered on. The speakers will play for a few seconds or maybe even longer at lower volume, but any length or time or an increase in volume will immediateley shut off sound. This is due to the fact that a shorted speaker wire/connection will ground out or short to one another. If you have checked all connections behind the radio AND at the speakers and found no problems, then it is a voice coil on the speaker. A shorted voice coil will work until the speaker cone moves causing the short or until enough power passes through the voice coil's short to turn off the radio.
Solution:
1. You can use a voltmeter set to check continuity to test for a speaker short. Disconnect all speakers from the radio and connect one side of your meter to ground and the other to the speaker lead. An audible "beep" will confirm a short.
2. The other method would be to disconnect all speakers and re-connect them one by one until the radio's sound output shuts off again. This will be your shorted speaker.
I hope this information was helpful.

Ipod?

There is no IP-BUS plug on the back of this model radio, nor is there a 3.5mm heaphone jack for auxillary input. The only way possible is through a wired FM Modulator.

My suggestion would be to replace the head unit. This model is a very inexpensive unit ($100retail) and can be replaced with a unit that is similar in features but with the addition of ipod input. You can get a radio with direct ipod control and charging for less than $150! Hope this was helpful.

No sound

you simply have a speaker shorting in your car. Either an old speaker with a bad voice coil (short) or a speaker who's contact(s) are touching metal. This type of short or grounding will cause the internal audio amplifier to shut off to protect the radio's output circuit. To diagnose which speaker is the culprit, you'll need to disconnect all speaker leads from the radio and one by one re-connect them until the output shuts down again. The safe way to check is with a voltmeter. If you connect one side of your voltmeter to ground and test each speaker wire lead for continuity, you'll hear an audible "beep" whe you find the grounded wire/contact. A professional car audio shop can diagnose this for you if you're still having difficulty. Hope this information was helpful.

Wiring my tuner-DEH-1800 to Amp GM-5300-T into my 4 speaker system.

Hi,

In most head units as in your case the Pioneer DEH-1800, there would be 2 RCA female jacks at the rear of the unit. These are your OUTPUTs.

While in most amps including your GM-5300-T, there would similar RCA jacks which would be your INPUTs.

You need to connect the output to the input using an audio cable terminated at both ends with RCA plugs. Further you need to connect the remote trigger on from the head unit to the remote/external amp to switch it on.

A more comprehensive connection diagram is available at page 6 of the GM-5300T Manual which may be downloaded from here.

Hope this be of help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

How to change time on Pioneer Carrozzeria avic hrv22 it has only Japanese, that's what my car's audio/GPS system and, please, help me out with changing language to English and finding maps? Thanks!!

Changing the language and updating maps on a Pioneer Carrozzeria AVIC HRV22, which typically comes with Japanese language settings, can be a bit tricky, but it's possible. Here's a general guide:
  1. Locate the Settings: First, try to navigate through the menu to find the settings option. It might be represented by a gear icon or a wrench icon.
  2. Use a Translation App or Guide: If you can't understand the Japanese menu, use a translation app on your smartphone to translate the menu options. Alternatively, you can search online for a guide or manual in English for your specific model.
  3. Change the Language: Once you've located the settings menu, look for an option related to language settings (???? in Japanese). Select it and then choose English (or ?? in Japanese). Confirm your selection.
  4. Update Maps: Updating the maps might require accessing a specific section of the menu, typically labeled something like "Map Update" (????). Once you're in that section, follow the prompts to update the maps. This might involve connecting the device to a computer and downloading the updated maps from the manufacturer's website.
  5. Follow On-Screen Instructions: Throughout the process, pay attention to any on-screen instructions or prompts, even if they're in Japanese. Sometimes, the navigation buttons or layout might remain consistent regardless of the language.
  6. Reset if Necessary: If you accidentally get stuck or lost in the menus, there might be a reset button somewhere on the device. Pressing this button will restore the device to its factory settings, allowing you to start over.
If you find it challenging to navigate the menu or if the options are not readily understandable, you might want to seek assistance from someone who understands Japanese or consult a professional who specializes in car audio/GPS systems. They can guide you through the process more efficiently.

My Pioneer PD-M40 plays the discs if the disc cartridge is already inserted when powered on. But if I power on the machine and then insert the disc cartridge nothing happens.

The issue you're experiencing with your Pioneer PD-M40 suggests a potential problem with the disc loading mechanism or the sensor that detects the presence of the disc cartridge. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try: 1. **Clean the Disc Cartridge and Player:** Dust or debris on the disc cartridge or inside the player may affect proper disc loading. Remove the disc cartridge and clean both the cartridge and the player carefully with a soft, lint-free cloth. 2. **Inspect for Obstructions:** Check for any visible obstructions inside the disc loading mechanism or around the edges of the disc cartridge slot. Ensure that there is nothing blocking the path of the cartridge as it is inserted. 3. **Check for Proper Alignment:** Ensure that the disc cartridge is properly aligned when inserting it into the player. Misalignment may prevent the player from recognizing the presence of the cartridge. 4. **Try a Different Disc Cartridge:** If you have access to another disc cartridge, try inserting a different one to see if the issue persists. This can help determine whether the problem is specific to the cartridge or the player itself. 5. **Power Cycling:** Turn off the player, unplug it from the power source, and wait for a minute or two. Plug it back in, power it on, and then attempt to insert the disc cartridge to see if the issue is resolved. 6. **Test with the Lid Open:** Power on the player with the lid open and observe the disc loading mechanism as you insert the disc cartridge. Check for any unusual movements, sounds, or signs of misalignment. 7. **Lubrication:** If the player has not been used for an extended period, lubrication on moving parts may have dried out. Consult the user manual for recommendations on proper lubrication or contact Pioneer customer support. 8. **Contact Pioneer Support:** If the issue persists and you've exhausted the troubleshooting steps, it may be advisable to contact Pioneer customer support or seek assistance from a qualified technician. There could be an internal issue that requires professional attention. Always refer to the user manual for your Pioneer PD-M40 for model-specific instructions and recommendations. If you don't have the manual, you may be able to find it on the Pioneer website or by contacting their customer support.
