Hi,
You will need and ignitor to correct this problem, part number 12400035, or click on the link below.
Ignitor
When they become weak, the can extend cooking time and sometimes create a gas odor. One number problem is your unit is over 3 plus years and you do alot of baking. Normally is a 20 min replace job.
Good luck I’m happy to help further over the phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/gere_bf68e6055dd61249
Based on your description,I`d suggestthe hot surface ignitor for the bake burner is likely the problem. Here's what you can try to verify if it's indeed the ignitor...if you're mechanically inclined.
It'll look like this...
** FIRST unplug the range and turn off the gas to the appliance before attempting any service...safety first**
This will confirm or dismiss if the ignitor is at fault...99% of the time this is the case. Many people overlook the ignitor, especially if it "glows" since that gives the untrained person the impression it works...that is not the case however. You can ohm it out to test it as follows...you'll need a multi-meter or ohm meter.
You should be able to find one at most brick & mortar appliance parts vendors or on-line depot's such as "repairclinic.com", "searspartsdirect.com" to name a couple.
You can ask for part number based on the model number for the bake ignitor and likely be told it is no longer available, however it is commonly known with techs (at least the ones I know and work with) that you can use # 74007498
Hope that help`s. Let me know if I can assist you further and good luck.
Thank`s for visiting "fixya" for your repair needs.
On the left side of the screen you will see diagrams of the different assemblies of your oven. If you look at diagram 3 you will see the exploded view of the glass pieces. You want the Outer glass, or as many parts as you need to make your oven complete again. They will also include a copy of the diagram to make it easier to complete the job.
gas it will be thermocouple ... electric oven see if its on manual setting ... on clock.... or element or control switch has gone need tested on multimeter...
5A6 is not a
error code and is displayed when the unit is set up to Sabbath mode. To reset
this error code you can press and hould the CLOCK pad which is located below
the display for around 15 seconds. If the problem returns then it is
recommended to leave the unit unplugged for 72 hrs so that the problem is
solved. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.
Hi Maureen, Strange.. I just had the same problem with my oven tonight. I have the same model as yours. Can you tell me if you were able to solve your problem? You can e-mail me at [email protected]
On a silicone carbide ignition system, the design is simple. The ignitor glows and changes the resistance in the circuit. When the resistance is right the gas valve will open and you will have ignition. So what goes wrong? The ignitor gets weak and no longer opens the safety valve. Here is a video which show how it works: If you need further help, reach me via phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/dan_73bbd84fe1d95b61
Find the bake ignitor (you may need to remove bottom drawer or oven cavity floor to get to the ignitor). Turn on the bake. If the bake ignitor comes on (starts glowing after a few seconds) - check the amperage on the bake ignitor wires when it's on. If the ignitor is a round style - amperage should be 2.5-3A, if the ignitor is rectangular - 3 - 3.6A. If less than 2.5A or 3A respectively - replace ignitor. If the ignitor does not come on - check the voltage on the ignitor, should be the line voltage 110-120v AC. If there is a line voltage on the ignitor and it's not coming on - replace. Ignitor part numbers for round style ones: 4342528, WB2X9154, SGR403, 5304401265; rectangular styles: 12400035, WB13K21, WB2X9998, SGR412, NR020, 5303935066, 814269, 9753108. Ignitors of the same shape (i.e. rectangular) are interchangeable, if you can splice the wires.
All of the igniters are connected together. When power is applied they all get activated and all burners spark. If one aint working either the ire to it is off, or the igniter have grease on it and therefore cannot get a good ground, or the hole beside the igniter is clogged and thus the gas won't ignite. This first video shows how they work and the second one is very important because it shows how to keep from damaging the stove while attempting repairs
