When i chage the option of oFF to CAMERA nothing

just so you know, your camera model was included in the list for what we call the "ccd program". this program has ran for 5 years and unfortunately ended march this year. sony gave free repairs for cameras and camcorders affected by the defective ccd imaging sensor before the said date. issue with the camera shows a black or distorted screen in camera mode. but the you should still be able to see the indicators on the screen. when switch to vcr you should be able to play back previous recordings that you made. better to really make sure its a ccd issue, play a tape that you're sure contains a movie recording and play it, then set it to camera mode and see if you get just a black screen. if you try recording using a tape, you may see nothing but should hear the audio part. if this is what's happening we can be sure it's a ccd issue. if your camcorder just won't turn on in camera mode, maybe the power switch turned defective or it can be other parts of the unit that stopped working.if this is the case, then of course, your unit may require service to address the problem.hope this info helps.thanks:)

My sony handycam DCR-TRV250 seems

Hello

OK, unfortunately, this is a firmware problem. This is not a very common occurrence, but, it does happen. If the camera is still in the warranty period, i would suggest that you take it back to point of purchase.

If the camera is already out of the warranty period, you still need to take it back, because you will not be able to update the firmware yourself.

Also, if you have dropped the camera, it might be a cracked circuit board.

Please do not hesitate to let me know if you have any further questions.

Kind regards
Andrea

C:31:23 error with a blinking

Try doing this following steps in correcting the problem of the camera.

Turn off the camcorder.
Remove the battery or disconnect the AC power adapter for 60 seconds.
Insert the battery or reconnect the AC adapter.
Turn on the camcorder.
If the error message appears, try to shake the camera a bit and if still not working Hit the camcorder top bottom and sides with minimum force.

If after doing those steps still not working a service is already require for the unit.

Cassette will not eject

Two things come to mind. either the film has adheared it self to the video drum if the set had some condension or the mech guide arm on the right take up side has come off and jammed. I've seen both problems. You will have to take it all apart unplug the loading motor and manual extract the tape. Normal about a $100 repair at my shop. But this is sight unseen. I get a blue screen and won't let me record

The dcr-trv250 has to common problems that apply to your camcorder. Bad iris or bad ccd imager. I've seen about a 100 of each lately. Look into the lens while you turn the power off then back on into camera mode. You will be able to see the iris open. If you don't see it open then it's most likely bad. Lost my disc for installition digital 8 tvr250

if you lost the disc, there is no available download for the supplied software from the sony support site. you may need to purchase that from parts (18004887669) part# 307894306 $29.95+shipping and taxes. now if your using win xp, you can just download the driver from this site:
http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-download.pl?mdl=DCRTRV250&upd_id=1452&os_id=7

and proceed with installation.onve installed and pc rebooted, you can use windows moviemaker for your video capturing software.no need to pay for the software. if unfortunately you have win vista and win7, forget it the supplied software (pixela imagemixer 1.5) is not compatible.so it's just a waste of money. better to go this route, connect the camcorder to your computer using dv (ilink or ieee1394) connection. of course you would need an ieee1394 card installed in your computer.so if you have it its should be a plug-and-play connection and you can use windows moviemaker for your video capturing application. hope this helps.thanks:)

This is a common problem with alot of Sony CamCorders...The solution is simple.....GIVE IT A WHACK!!!

Seriously, Take the battery off the device, Give the camera a smart "smack" on the tape side of the unit and power it back up.

works in 90% of cases!!!
