make sure that you put the picture (the item you're scanning) on the right side of the scan bed, try scanning other sizes of pictures too, if that dont work, ive posted the link for that printer here, check out the manuals and troubleshooting steps too, they're all for free. you can also contact 800-HP invent or 800-474-6836.

the lamp is bad

it is scanner prolem but you can try with cleaning the glass .and also try to re install the scanner driver software.

Uninstall the Driver Software, switch off the Computer and reinstall the driver software again. This should work.

Sounds like the main circuit board fried. You can't repair it, thus replacement is the only option. That will not guarantee normal operation and your taking a chance one way or the other.

Install the drivers for it from the HP website. Other software for it should be there as well. As to scanning speed, setting it to scan at lower resolutions can speed scanning. Scanning for color is slower than scanning for Black and White, FYI.

Hah, hah. That is what happens when you upgrade unnecessarily to an operating system for which you do not have the correct driver. Unless HP provides a driver u are out of luck - they prefer that you buy a new scanner from them, of course!
