Instructions for installing Acer brand parallel port scanners in Windows XP:

For this driver to work in XP you must install the MiraScan software then install the scanner manually.

Step 1. Download MiraScan v3.424 from the web :
Mirascan_v3424p.exe

Step 2. Unzip and install the Mira Scan driver that you just downloaded. After installation , system will suggest you to add a scanner

Step 3. Then, add an imaging device

Step 4. Then the Scanner and Camera Installation Wizard comes up. Click Next at the bottom.

Step 5. Then on Scanner and Camera Installation Wizard screen it will ask you which scanner or camera do you want to install? You want to go where it says "Manufacturer" and then click on EPPSCANNER and where it says "Model" it should say color flatbedscanner. Make sure it is highlighted, also. Click on Next at the bottom.

Note: not all XP systems will work with parallel port scanners. If the procedure doesn't work for you, then you must obtain a newer USB type scanner.

Have you tried the manufacture web site? Most manufactures put there drivers online in case if you update your OS or any updates are needed for your product to work on your OS.

Only old and some professional printed can use the ECP port. Modern printers, use USB ethernet and lately wireless. Manufactures stopped making the ECP on printers, over 10 years ago. Not knowing what Acer you mean I assume it does to have a port like this. I found a strange cable on the net, but I'm not saying it will work. I had the same problem with my acer x112 , and after checking everything i found out that the problem was the Color Wheel (not necessarily being broken) , it looked new but it was the problem , hope this helps
