Yes you can do that by trying to set the sesolution settting.
Step for setting up screen resolution
1.Click start-->Settings-->Conteol Panel-->Display
2.Under Display Properties window click the last tab name settings
3.Below you should be able to see Screen Resolution
4.Try to adjust the resolution here.

The bottom left key is labeled in blue, Fn. Hold down this key and press the F7 key at the same time. Repeating this will toggle between an external monitor and the LCD. If this does not work, try connecting an external monitor to the blue 15 pin VGA connector on the rear panel of your T30 and try this again. If you get external video you will know your video chip is working properly, but your LCD may not.You didn't provide enough description of your problem to help you further.

It may have a faulty motherboard or it is stuck in hibernation. To take it from hibernation you need to licate the CMOS battery, know this is where the problem starts. The battery (Small disc shaped, probably covered with tape.) could be underneath the notebook. If you turn it over there should be compartments where the memory harddrive etc reside, it could be in those places or even under the keyboard. If you are not too sure as you have to be very carefull, take it to a qualified repairer.

Try the combination of the FN key and the F5 key.

The screen will dim on battery power to save energy. The power settings, found when you right click the power icon in taskbar notification area and go to power options, can be changed to your personal preferences. The shut down issue may be what is running, I can't say what is running, but look at the Start up process in MSCONFIG and shut down what is not necessary at Start UP. Look at tutorials on Faster Start up and Shut down. There may be many items you can shut down/disable to speed up these events. QUESTION: Is this a upgrade to WIN 7 Ultimate, If so your computer me be a bit short on specs, in other words you have reached the computers hardware limits. How much RAM, CPU speed...etc.

Does the computer start anyway, but it's just that the battery won't charge? If that's the case, it's probably a bad battery.

A procedure to do before assuming a bad battery is to (1) remove the battery, (2) disconnect the power supply from the computer, and (3) press and hold the power button for about 30 seconds. This resets the logic circuits in the internal power handling section. If that doesn't help either, then the battery is probably bad.

If the computer isn't starting, however, it could be that the power supply has failed. Check the voltage output on the power supply.

you can go to the BIOS setting? if you can,look for "Boot Device Priority" or something like that,it's usually placed on Advanced settings. Set the first boot device as your harddisk,save the settings and restart your computerPlease let me know if it's working or not

You need to press the NUM Lock key.
The NUM lock key is usually the same key as the ScrLk key but to select the NUM lock you need to press and hold down the Shift key and then press the NumLk/ScrLk key. A LED light will light up to indicate the number keypad is on.

There must be something which is stopping your firewall to run at the logon may be some malware like virus.It is also possible if you are using some antivirus it disables the firewall automatically when its turned on.So go to Administrative tools> services in control panel. And see for the firewall service. If you are using the private firewall look for the appropriate service. If its the windows firewall. Go to windows firewall service. Make sure you select the start up type automatic. and in service status if the service is running stop the service and start it again.If it is stopped then start the service.Regards-Dileep
