and download driver and install this may also help in windows7

Go to scanmaker's website and see if they updated driver for vista. They should have depending how old the scanner is and if the company still exist. Then go to support and downloads. You should be able to search by make and model and download vista version driver, good luck.

you download it and try to install it right?
if so maybe
1. wrong operating system or not compatible
2. maybe its corrupted file
3. maybe your antivirus detect the file as virus and block it.

You may download the drivers from the above page, they are on the bottom of the page, just select the appropriate windows version that your computer has.

try this link, you should see download options for your specific windows. bear in mind, this unit apparently has no support for vista or windows 7. scanners are relatively cheap, such as a Canon LiDE usb powered model ($50 and up)
