Why Does My Sony reciver
The amplifier stage, which consist of power transistors, is experiencing an overload. Possibly due to the transistors breaking down or the DC threshold level is too high. The latter can be adjust when the input to the transistor is at quiescent or when no input is entering the transistors. I recommend having a professional make the adjustment.
I get error message Protect
These have a built in protection unit that senses heat. Capacitors are sensitive and will shut the unit off when there is a lot of heat or even if you turn the unit on more if it is too loud or the bass is turned up. It is a capacitor fault. Some of these units have a wire to the protection unit circuit you can unplug, but not sure where yours may be.
How do i hook up a record player
A record player has a very small signal coming out from the cartridge. If your amp doesn't have "phono in" then try "tape in".If no luck then you have to plug the record players output to a preamp first then from there to "aux in".
On display appears PROTECT.
check all the speakers connections for short circuits
unplug from wall
and
unplug all of the speakers and extra components and turn it on to see if the message disapears
if it does one by one start plugging that speakers back in
unplugging from the wall every time you add a speaker
(just in case the reciver only realises there is a problem after it shuts down)
if you find that after pluging in a speaker and when you turn it on check the wires for cuts or short circuits and check the speaker itself replace it with another and see what happens

Hi,
This receiver has 2 modes for remote AV1 and AV2 that can be changed as per following procedure:
While depressing the [ENTER] button, press the [POWER] button to
turn on the main power. Either the message “C.MODE.AV 1” or “C.MODE.AV 2” appears for a moment and select the desired mode.
Check remote operation by changing remote mode.
Hope this info will help you.
Thanks.
Shuts down in protect mode
disconnect all the speakers and turn it on. if it does not go into protect mode, then youve got a bad speaker or wire. good luck
Can I connect a active subwoofer to my SONY
Yes, it only supports an Active Subwoofer. That's what the Sub Pre-Out is for.
Your sub will take that input, possibly split to two RCA connectors, and its internal amplifier will do the rest. Its own manual will give the specifics.
GOES INTO PROTECT MODE
Before you throw it in the garbage check all the speaker wires, if you have one strand of wire touching the case of the receiver that acts as a short to ground and will make it trip into protect intermittently.
First things first unplug all speaker wires and see if it turns off, if not reconnect them one by one until the unit goes off.
Hope this helps,
Thanks!
In radio mode, all speakers do not work
Radio will default to 2 channel stereo. You will need to use one of the soundfield processing modes to expand. Try using surround mode button to get to 6 channel or pro-logic.
