I have the Bush DFTA1A set top box and plugged the aerial into the back of it, then connected the 3 cables red,white & yellow also into the back of it and the other end of those cables into my DVD/TV. then follow onscreen prompts to install it. works fine.

try a cleaning disc, if that does not help then its time to replace it..

try unplugging the dvd for 10 min verify there is not a hard switch on back for component/rca connection hook up the rca connection to one of your video outputs then turn the tv on then switch your video on the tv and re-setup your dvd the way you want it

These codes are from a book a couple years old but should hopefully work, i only ended up here trying to find codes for mine as theres only one in the book.

if you can, open the loading drawer and blow real hard inside, sometimes this works, mine does it every once in a while and blowing does the trick. it's dust on the laser eye. you could always take the cover off and clean it with a Q-Tip.

I have a Bush 6690D and I can confirm that it does have a built-in digital decoder for terrestrial signals (Freeview).

Have you checked whether ***********'s TV is set to digital mode ? The "Mode" button on the remote cycles between analog, digital and AV inputs.

1. Press OPEN
2. Press PROG
3. Press ENTER three times
4. Use UP/DOWN to select region
5. Press STOP several times to set the region

if tv has RCA(red & white) inputs,and dvd has RCA outputs,try using an rca lead for the audio.if it dont work,bin it.

If the region setting is correct and won't even read a cleaning disc, there's not much you can do. Either the DVD drive or the Main board (aka MPEG board) is faulty and will have to get it repaired. I'm not sure about UK, but in Australia, Bush manufacturing warranty period for DVD players is 12 months.

Initially, pls check if your portable DVD has an NTSC/PAL selector switch, option or feature. If yes, try selecting the other. Should this not be corrective, pls post the exact brand, model and your general location/region.

Could Try all DVD codes on internet?
Try this example for Bush DVD Model 2039
switch on tv & DVD player.
open dvd tray/ no dvd in.
press PROG on dvd remote.once only
press ENTER 3 times
region codes should be displayed.
use up/ down buttons on remote to select-
region 1 for USA / region 0 for all regions/ 2 for uk.
press STOP to confirm.
Open/close to exit.
Is that the right one for your set?
If not , go to ALL DVD codes.

take it apart and use a lint free qtip clean the lens or optical pick up and try to play dvd

DONT BOTHER TRY USING ONE OF THOSE ALL IN ONE REMOTE CONTROLS THEY USUALLY WORK JUST HAVE TP PROGRAM IN MODEL INFO AND A WAY YOU GO.
