Hitachi 50EX20B 50" Rear Projection Television - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
My screen goes blank after about 30 seconds or so, any ideas?
about the only common issue (if model listed here is correct) is bad solder connections at the vertical output IC.Usually in this case jarring the set will cause it to try to open and allow the picture--if no vertical sweep (pic top to bottom) set will blank all 3 tubes to prevent an instant burn mark on them.
My picture gets smaller and the picture shakes,
Mark,by now your TV has many, many bad grounds and weak to bad capacitors. If you know anything about electronics, heat is the number one enemy of TVs. If you can pull out the convergence board, you will see many ICs, transistors, jumpers, resistors and diodes etc, in dire need of resoldering. It takes a very keen eye to find these. The next board under consideration would be the power supply. Once again bad grounds and weak to bad capacitors are here.If you feel you can repair this, please find a good soldering pen. I would suggest you purchase a soldering pen from an electronic specialist. Do not purchase the soldering pen that has a screw located near the tip of the pen. These are unregulated and will make for almost an impossible good soldering. You will need ab ESR meter to find bad capacitors. Your best repair would be to find an electronic hobbiest to repair this, if you can not! Thanks for asking, and show a few hands of support!
Hitachi 50ex20b shuts of
Hi, you need to stop running the set , call a tech and have him do some solder re-work, this is a cheap, easy fix, keep running it that way and it will become an expensive fix, gl, video-tek
CONVERGENCE
Check for bad resistors low ohms near your STKs big black ics.
CAN NOT LINE UP THE CONVERSIONS ON CORN OF TV
Depending on what you have done so far after replacing STKs it can take up 6 hrs to realine complete convergence on these sets and if your DCU moduel is bad cost is 215.00 This type of alinment requires someone who knows what they are doing .
Does Not Turn On
I actually ended up with this set. It turned out to be a very nasty short circuit on the audio board. To trouble shoot disconnect PSD5 to isolate the power supply. It's the 3rd connector from the back on the left side of the power supply. If you turn on the tv and now see 5 green leds and the one red led, look for a short outside of the power supply. The short on this set was on the left side of the audio board (which is to the left of the power supply) There was a wire add and a part add covered in wax. The bare wire was touching a ground but you have to remove the wax to see it. Since this may be a change that was made to all sets of this model, it may be a common failure. Good Luck all.
No picture or sound
Remove the rear panel. With the TV on you should see a red LED near the center of the PCB. There should also be 5 green leds, 3 to the left a 2 behind. If there is no red leds, check the fuses. If there are no green leds or maybe 1 or 2, disconect PSD5. It's a connector on the left side of the power board that connects to the audio board. It's the 3rd on fro the back. It's labled. With that disconected, turn on the set and look for the green leds. If all 5 light, the power supply is OK and you have a problem beyond that. If they don't all light you have a bad power supply.

Make sure that the coolant is not leaking out onto the printed circuit boards. i have had the remote sensor cause this problem before and also I have had bad capacitors in the sweep and the main power supplies. Good Luck
Change input on Hitachi LCD TV model LE65K6R9 without remote?
I'd unplug/disconnect the Roku and after 30 seconds try the control button on the back. If you can change the input do so, then plug the Roku back in. Until you use the input button on the back to change input to Roku, you should be able to use the other buttons on the back to control the TV. If this does not work, unplug both the TV and the Roku. Wait maybe a minute, then plug the TV back in and follow the above instructions. Here are other alternatives: Using physical buttons: You can find the physical buttons on the left or right back side of the Hitachi TV. Using these keys, you can change the input, adjust the volume, or turn on Hitachi TV without a remote. Press the Input button located at the back or side of the Hitachi TV. The list of connected sources will appear on the TV screen12.
Using external devices: Connect a wireless keyboard or mouse to your Hitachi TV and change the input1.
Buy a universal remote: You can buy a universal remote to control your Hitachi TV and change the source.

How to remove small popup bottom left of Hitachi smart tv screen.
A little popup that appears in the lower left corner of your Hitachi smart TV screen may be related to one of the TV's settings or capabilities. You can attempt the following actions to get rid of it:
1.Investigate notifications:
Smart TVs occasionally show notifications for different events or upgrades. If there are any notifications, look for them and then clear them by following the on-screen directions.
2.Applications and Inputs:
Make sure all programmes and inputs are closed. The popup may occasionally be connected to an input source or app, which can be closed to get rid of it.
3.On-Screen Display (OSD) Off:
There might be an OSD option in the settings menu on Hitachi TVs. Try disabling OSD or changing its settings to see if it gets rid of the popup.
Verify any software/firmware updates:
4.Make that the most recent firmware or software upgrades are installed on your TV. Pop-up windows may appear as a result of faults in outdated software. Look for a software update option in the TV's settings menu.
5.Firmware Reset:
You can conduct a factory reset on your TV if the problem persists after you've tried various troubleshooting measures. The default values for all settings will be restored as a result. Make cautious to back up any crucial data before doing a factory reset because doing so will also remove any customised settings and data.
6.Message Hitachi Support here:
If none of the aforementioned fixes the problem, it's a good idea to get in touch with Hitachi customer service or refer to the TV's user manual for detailed instructions on how to get rid of the popup.
Regarding External Devices:
7.The popup may be related to any external devices you have connected to your TV, like a cable box or game console. Make sure that these gadgets are operating properly and that the settings have been changed as necessary.
Keep in mind that depending on the type and software version of your Hitachi smart TV, the precise processes and options may change. For instructions unique to your TV model, consult the user manual, or go to the Hitachi website for further help options.

Hitachi LE42S704 none of the HDMI ports work, need to update (i think)
Are you getting the various HDMI inputs on the screen but it acts like nothing is connected? We have repaired hundreds of TV's with no HDMI signal over the years and have never had an update correct this issue. There is an IC close to the HDMI input jacks (U501) that decodes the data, that's always been the defective part. You can order the part and change it but you will need advanced soldering skills and the equipment to do it, I'd recommend replacing the main board if you can find one.
