Nikon D3100 Digital Camera - Page 7 Questions & Answers
Error code r17
Is this keeping the camera from shooting? Normally the "r" message shows up when shooting to tell you how many more shots you can take in the current burst before the buffer fills up.
Unable to set iso
The AUTO setting is just that--automatic. The camera controls almost everything, including the ISO setting. If you want more control, switch to the P setting. This works just like AUTO, except you can change or override any other setting.
Setting dpi on my nikon d3100
DPI (dots per inch) is an output specification and is irrelevant to the camera. The camera puts a value into the field simply because it has to put something there. The DPI is set by the printing program when it prints a picture. A picture printed at 4x6 will obviously have more dots per inch than the same picture printed at 8x10.
NIKON D3100 zoom problem
The D3100 doesn't have digital zoom capabilities. The zoom range depends on the lens you have fitted on. The 5.6 sounds like the aperture. The maximum aperture also depends on the lens. The S3100 does have digital zoom capabilities. Is this the camera you're referring to? Or are you confusing the specs of the two cameras?
Last night while taking a
Here's the problem. Your aperture control is messed up. When you drop the camera, the aperture is one of the most sensitive things on your DSLR. Solution - Simple. You need to open your aperture wider to allow more light in, so that your sensor can pick out the image. Go to the A mode on your dial. That's the Aperture mode. Lower the F point to the minimum. Like, 5.6 when you're totally zoomed out, and lower when you're not. If this doesn't work. Go to Manual mode. That's M on the dial. Lower your aperture to the minimum again, and start decreasing your shutter speed. Like 1/5th of a second or something. It'll work. Worst case scenario. Take it to a service center.Later.
Demo mode d3100
Despite what Rajdeep says, the demo mode on the D3100 allows you to take a picture without a memory card and review it. This is primarily intended to let you see how the camera works --- a demonstration. If you want to get out of the demo mode, you must insert a memory card. Without a memory card, the camera has only enough memory to hold one picture, and this picture will disappear when you turn the camera off.The demo mode is discussed (briefly) in the "Slot Empty Release Lock" section of the manual (page 147 in my copy).
I took photos, they showed on the playback and now they are not on the memory card. How can I see them?
