First of all, here is the main ONLINE SUPPORT page for your model:

http://usa.yamaha.com/products/audio-visual/av-receivers-amps/rx/rx-v493_black__u/?mode=model

And here is a direct link to the ONLINE USER'S MANUAL for that model:

http://www2.yamaha.co.jp/manual/pdf/av/english/re/RX-V393.pdf

To view the Support Page or the Owner's Manual with Operating Instructions just use your mouse to click on the link, which is the underlined and highlighted text just above. This will open a new web browser page automatically for you and allow you to view the information at the website indicated and the contents of the Owner's Manual.

You may need ADOBE READER installed on your computer to read PDF documents.
You can download this free at WWW.ADOBE.COM if necessary.
Click on the DOWNLOAD ADOBE READER button on right side of the ADOBE home page when you get there, then follow the onscreen instructions to install the software on your computer.

You should just be able to use the TAPE REC AUDIO OUT (L/R) jacks on the back of the Yamaha 493 unit as your secondary amp's input signal. You might even be able to use the VCR AUDIO OUT (L/R) jacks as well. See page 8 of the manual for a detailed diagram of the rear connections on your set.

I hope that was helpful to you, good luck.

If you choose to rate this solution using the Thumbs Up scale provided, I thank you very much for your time and consideration.

Joe.

How do I reset a yamaha rx-v493 receiver?

Disconnect any speakers from it and see if it still turns off. If it doesn't, then you have a shorted speaker or speaker wire. If it does still turn off, then it would need to go in for repairs.

Just simply, what speakers do

ANY that are nominally 8-ohms and can handle around 100W RMS. No other limitations. That's why they have specs.

I have a yamaha rx-v493

Of course you know you're asking a question that could attract more opinion than useful facts.

If you watch the volume and buy efficient name-brand multichannel speakers with REAL bass-handling capacity you'll probably love the sound without endangering your speakers or your ears.

As it is distortion more than raw power that kills speakers you need to keep away from pushing the amps beyond their RATED power (roughly 70 wpc into 8-ohms, @1khz, <.04%THD. I'm a little concerned that the spec in the manual qualifies it as only 1khz instead of the ore honest and meaningful 20-20000 hz it states for the RX-V393.

An under-powered amp will kill speakers faster than an over-poweredf one as it will enter its high distortion region much sooner.

Play-it-by-ear is good advice. If the amps sound strained, back off the volume.

Your room size will play a huge part in the perceived loudness while your household's aesthetic sensibilites will limit the size and visibility of the speakers. Compromise between form and function is almost guaranteed.

Being a long-time audio enthisiast/collector, set in my ways and unwilling to bow to appearance at the cost of the sound, I use full-size (70's and 80's era) Bose speakers (901's and 301's) throughout the room and augment them with a couple of huge subs and large Kenwood 777 center speakers. It ain't cheap or pretty but it rocks movies and music.

I would recommend you do some research into "home theater speaker recommendations" and read some user comments for the various offerings out there. You'll be in a relationship with your A/V system for a long time. Take the time to get it right.

Why does my Yamaha HTR-6130 power down after 3 seconds?

I expect there is either a power supply issue or one of the amplifiers has failed causing over current to turn it off as a protection to the power supply.

Yamaha M-60 Power Amplifier distortion and sound goes off sometimes

Being from 1985 or there abouts, it probably needs some TLC at a Yamaha service centre. May need new capacitors and resolder dry joints for age related issues.

Jerky sound in one channel Yamaha M-60 Power Amplifier

WD-40 ... Very dangerous as it not only flammable when wet but is bad for electrical contacts as it leaves a residue behind that does not conduct electricity very well. Check speaker connections first.

How do I connect a SpeakerCraft BB275 to a Yamaha 5.1 receiver?

You can't do this. The SpeakerCraft is a standalone amplifier. The Yamaha is a Receiver and has its own amplifier. Putting amplified sound into a data input is not recommended and will cause component damage and overload 'clipping'. https://www.google.com/search?q=SpeakerCraft+BB275 https://www.google.com/search?q=Yamaha+5.1+receiver I deleted the two answers from AI Answer Bots as they are not doing you any favours suggesting it can be done in their waffling answers! ..

Thanks for the compliments Gilbert. You have tried the reset so a Yamaha audio tech is the answer. This link will find you one close to where you live. There is probably a glass fuse on the power board, but you have to find out WHY the fuse blew? It is worth fixing in my opinion. https://www.google.com/search?q=yamaha+audio+repairs+near+me It does have a thermal fuse https://www.google.com/search?q=yamaha+rx-v663bl+no+power+on ..
