Chlorine/bleach - read carefull the instruktion on the back og the bottle. DO NOT USE IT without thinning it with water in the correct dosis! Let it rest til everything is dead. Dont get it in the machine it will be damaged. Do not boil it in the machine! only for use in the watertank. Clean carefully.
Use CLR or any other lime scale remover you can find. Pour out any water in the bottom chamber and put some CLR into it. leave it for 10 minutes to an hour. Run it to have some CLR so though any passages, then pour out any remaining CLR and replace with water again to wash out the CLR. When you are satisfied that the CLR is all rinsed and replaced with clean water, then it is safe to iron again. CLR can alway be put on a cloth and wipe the iron surface or any deposits.

According to the advertising, it is supposed to pump and generate loads of steam continuously.
Steam ironing Recommendations: To prime the steam circuit, either before using the iron for the first time, or if you have not used the steam function for a few minutes, press the steam control button several times in a row, holding the iron away from your clothes. This will enable any cold water to be removed from the steam circuit. • To obtain steam, press the steam output button under the iron handle. The steam will stop when you release the button. • After approximately one minute, and regularly while it is being used, your steam generator's electric pump injects water into the boiler. It makes a noise but this is quite normal.
I would try a liquid descaler like CLR and try to get liquid up into the head of the iron as well. My thought is that something is stuck with scale buildup.
The Tefal website has Customer Support and also says they are repairable.

Hello again Julia
Despite my searching, I find that you are the only person to have this issue. I am guessing that you has a split in the steam tank, a bad connection to the steam tube, or a split tube. The only way would be to strip it down or take it in for repair. You could try contacting Tefal and see if you can get a warranty repair on it. Even if it is out of date, you can still ask.
