It's not sealed just, fortunately. It's just difficult to open. The door should be on the same side of the camera as the lens. Turn the camera upside down, and using both thumbs, push against the flat area, about 2 cm (or, about an inch) below the lens. Push from the lens toward the Vivitar name. It may not move the first time, but it should come loose after a few attempts. This is for the Vivitar DVR 882HD. If you have a Vivitar 882 (without the DVR), it should be the same instructions, but the door to the battery case might be on the other side...I don't know if it is or not, because I don't have that version. In either case, though, just keep trying, and it should open for you.

This was really tricky.There are two holes on the top, close together.Slide the thin loop through the hole closest to the side of the camera, and then stick a pin through the other hole and try to 'fish' it out. You can tell when you've hooked it because you can pull the needle by pulling the strap. Once it's hooked, you have to carefully pull the needle out, keeping the strap from sliding off by angling the needle away from the other hole. Good luck. Took me quite a few tries.
