Rinnai RHFE-1004FA 38,400 BTU Energy Saver Ductless Heater - Natural Gas Questions & Answers
My water pan is corroded. What can I use to recoat the pan? Do I sand down to base material then prime then coat?
Sand off all the corrosion to bare metal. Use a metal etch to scrub it down (any phosphoric acid will do), this can be gotten at Home depot or any home center in the paint section (also know as naval jelly). Clean the area with clean water after applying the acid and let dry. The naval jelly will leave a slight coating after the rinsing and this will prevent rusting afterward. Prime the metal with automotive primer, 2 or 3 coats will do. Let each coat dry completely. Use an epoxy paint (I've used single stage polyurethane and 2 part mixable epoxy type). The 2 part mixable epoxy is more expensive but lasts indefinitely and gets very hard). McMaster-Carr Supply has these products and they can be ordered on line. Apply the paint, let it dry according to the manufacturers directions and you shouldn't have any problems.

Constantly running without shutting off in economy mode
check the temperature control bulb that is located on the rear of the unit at the bottom near the power cord comes out of the unit. a thin gray wire maybe three feet long at the end is located the little glass black bulb. you will have to place this bulb where it can monitor the room temperature. if it is to close to the heater it will cut of whit out heating the room and keep coming on. like wise if to far way or in an area that is to cold then it will keep running. you will have find the right placement for the sensor bulb. it may take a little time.

The heater will shut down after about ten seconds.
Graham there are a couple of things that could be causing what you described.
The Oxygen Depletion Sensor (ODS) which is part of the pilot assembly could be clogged with dust, lint or pet hair. When this happens, the ODS reads the oxygen level as unsafe for operation. Using canned compressed air with a straw nozzle (like you clean your computer with) to blow out the ODS and the pilot tip should solve the problem.
Also, if the air louvers of the cabinet of the heater may also be clogged. Keeping them clean is important.
The Thermocouple, which keeps the pilot lit, may have failed. In which case it will need to replaced.
I hope this helps you to further troubleshoot & solve the problem. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Is it possible to convert a rinnai avenger 25 from
Yes it Should but you will want to check with manafactuer because it will need a conversion kit for lp gas. Natural gas is a different p.s.i. than lp gas so don't try without conversion kit. It should be just a small fitting that goes inside the gas valve. Hope this helps have a good day

We get a horrible smell
From what you have described, it sounds like a case of delayed ignition or as the Owner's Manual calls it a "Combustion Control Fault"or "Incomplete Combustion". This can be caused by several things: A change in the gas pressure; dirty or clogged burner, electronic fault in the combustion controls.
Despite having it cleaned an services last Winter, 12 months have elapsed, with the unit just sitting and collecting dust and spiders. Portable Heating units should be serviced annually. Usually in the early Fall, before firing it up for the heating season.
Hope this helped you ... Cheers.

The air filter light is coming on . Can you tell
There are three filters in the RHFE-1004A. The lamp indicates the two air filters need to be cleaned. Turn off the heater. Then pull the filters up from the back of the top of the unit (the side against the wall). Vacuum or dust both sides of each filter. If you notice that the filters are greasy, clean them by washing them quickly with detergent. Rinse the filters completely and then allow them to dry before reinstalling them. (The last filter is above the humidifier water tray.)
The manual for the Rinnai RHFE-1004A is available here:
http://www.inglenookenergy.com/rinnai/direct_vent_wall_furnaces/rhfe-1004fa/Owners_Manual_1004.pdf . See page 29 (page 31 of the pdf) for pictures.
I hope this helps.

I NEED AN INSTALLATION ESTIMATE AND i NEED TO KNOW
Henry, there is no way to give you anywhere near an accurate estimate for installation, without knowing how much gas line will have to run to reach the heater. As far as who can install it is concerned. One of the requirements of being a Rinnai Dealer, is being able to install and service what you sell. Therefor, the Rinnai Dealer you purchased the heater from is the place to start. In addition, any licensed and certified gas technician should be able to install it.
Hope this helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa. Cheers ....

When I switch on my
Hi,
According to your problem, the number 12 showing the timer
or the temperature of your heater. So reset the timer/clock first by Clock/Temp
button. If heater doesn't ignite on initial use this may be due to air
remaining in the gas supply line. Check the gas line. The spark generator will
only continue for 15 seconds. After that it needs to turn off by ON/OFF button
and turn on again. But if the same occurs every time you turn it on then check
the electricity outlet and electric cord if there is any fault or loose. Check the
gas input also.

My heater keeps blinking and a code on the top
There is no pilot light on this model. An 11 error code tells us that there is no gas supply to the heater. Could be a bad gas valve, dirty igniter, gas got shut off somehow, dirty burner, etc... All you can do is make sure the filter is clean, a technician will need to open it up. Sorry.
