Buck In-Sink-Erator BADGER 5XP BADGERVEXP Garbage Disposal Garbage Disposal - Bl Questions & Answers
How to replace gasket on garbage disposal
First unplug the disposal from the electrical outlet. Do not just shut the switch to the off position.
You will need to drain the water sitting in the trap so place a container under the trap to catch the water.
Loosen the collar on the disposal ( use a small hammer and screwdriver)
Remove the old gasket on the top of the disposal and replace with the new gasket.
Place a little plumber's silicon on the gasket and reinstall the disposal. ( it might be a little difficult due to the new gasket)
Check for leaks and then plug the disposal back into the outlet

Water does not drain from sink unless disposal is turned on and running. what could it be?
It would appear there is a blockage (a clog) in the disposal. You might try "FIRST" unplugging the disposal from under the sink. Put a piece of masking tape over the switch to secure it in the "OFF" position. Then remove the black rubber strainer from sink leading down into the disposal. (just pull it out by hand) Clean out all debris by hand. Put the removed debris in the trash can. Run hot water down into the disposal assuring it to drain properly. Do not put items into the disposal which cannot be ground up easily such as potato peelings and meat products.

Food disposal locked up. Motor not running
I just had the same sympton w/my Badger.1 ... I must have tossed too many ice-cubes at once into the system and it locked up. I am not familiar w/all the gadges, but I found a tiny red button under the unit: press the red button and the unit should work again. But please make sure, the electric switch is turned of before you switch the red button below the unit. Then try to run the disposal w/water. Mine is working again. Good luck.

My insinkerator is humming and
Your Badger 5 spins the blades counter clockwise. If you want to dislodge an item stuck in their, you have to spin the blades clockwise. I use the handle end of my plunger to do this. If it turns free with the handle, it should work when you turn it back on. If you don't hear it hum any more their is a little red reset button on the bottom of the motor housing you must press to reset it.

I have a Badger 5xp & a double sink. When I
Take apart the tubular drain pipes beneath sink and clean out everything.
Take photos before removing pipes so parts go back together easily.
Loosen 2 nuts on trap, and trap falls loose.
Remove 2 bolts/screws and remove tailpiece from side of disposal.
Then run snake down drain line leading away from sink to make sure blockage is removed.
I wrote ez disposal steps that give tips on reconnecting tubular drain pipes:

I think that the bottom
Before you start turn of the power to the disposal. You will need to use a socket wench that fits the nut inside the disposal in the center of the grinding wheel and turn the grinder back and forth to loosen what ever is stuck in the disposal look in there with a light to see if what ever it is. Take it out and then turn on the water then the reset button then the power if it clears and runs correctly then we go the cleaning it. I would do this in one week or more intervals. Turn the water on before you turn on the disposal and put a handful of ice cubes in with your favorite sink cleaner (comet cleanser woks real well) and let the water and the disposal run for about 3 to 5 min. If the disposal sounds clear your good to go if not repeat until it does.
