Reddy Heater 60,000 BTU Kerosene Forced-Air Heater #R60A - Page 2 Questions & Answers
Cant find the inline fuel
Remove the top section of the heater and trace it down to the side, now you remove four more screws and find the fuel line the filter may be mounted in a grommet in the top of the fuel tank.
My heater would run for
Travis, If you have a R60 you can find the fuel filter in the bottom of the pickup tube. Pull the pickup tube out of the fuel tank, then take a small screw driver and pop the small cone shaped fuel screen out. I take either carb and choke cleaner or brake cleaner and spray it out then blow out with compressed air. I'm having trouble with mine also, and I had to turn down fuel pressure (fuel pressure on R60 is suppose to be 3.4psi) but I don't have a fuel pressure gauge that goes that low!! Go to DESA TECH.com they have a lot of good info there. Hope this helps you out!!!
Will not start
Check to make sure the anti-tip switch is working properly. Also
make sure that there is no fuel shut off valve that is closed.
My kerosene 50,000 btu reddy heater fires up for
There is a sensor inside that tells the heater that the flame is lit...if it doesn't "see" the flame it will shut down...this may be caused by the filter in the rear being clogged and it is not allowing the pump to produce enough pressure to ensure a good flame or the pump inside may have sucked up some debris and is now not producing the proper pressure required. Another possibility is that there may be enough dust on the sensor itself to cause it to not "see" the flame...if you take the cover off you can find this sensor...it will have 2 wires coming off of it and it looks like a photocell...it should be located just in front of the jet where the fuel comes out...a word of caution...the ignitor(and the spark plug looking thing) have very high voltage on them(around 5000Volts) so I would avoid touching these parts while in operation.
Heater is not getting fuel to the nozzle, won't
take off the top at the rear of the motor is an air pump which has vanes in it they could be tuck in due to dirt also the pickup pipe will have a filter in it remove pipe and clean filter
Help
yes, just make sure your heater will take both fuels
Do i need to replace filter if i have been using
No, the kerosene is number 1 fuel oil and Diesel is number 2. No.2 is a heavier fuel with more BTU's than the kerosene. After you have burned the diesel for awhile, you may want to change the filter. If you have trouble getting the diesel to burn, mix it with 25% kerosene and it will flow and go through the nozzle easier
Ingition shuts down within 30 seconds.
Can be the Photocell {eye} at the back of the burner or the inline fuel filter.Photocells are easy to replace and when you install the new one make sure it's aiming straight to the flame.Inline filter can be cleaned by using forced air,but not recommended.Filters are cheap. If none of that works check the air pressure at the pump, rear of machine, little plastic pipe plug.4 to 5 P.S.I
Heater wont start.Fan goes, Starts to heat, then
take the shield off and see if it burns with more combustion air. If it does then the heater isnt getting enough air. look for a shutter or set screw near the burner that should be the primary air adjustment. sounds like you have been working on the fuel side already. You may check the orfice to see if it is partially blocked, use a safety pin and gently **** it out. also check the burner tube
