Bissell 3750 brush not moving has new belt suction

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial. There are a number of reasons why your brush roller has stopped moving. General maintenance to your vacuum is crucial and will help it work at peak performance. First things first lets focus on the brush roller. Unplug the vacuum and turn it on its side. Look for any noticeable clumps of debris or hair strands that may be caught in the brush roller. Remove these obstructions, probably best to do so with a scissor if it's hair or long pieces of carpet fibers. After removing the debris try manually rotating the brush roller to uncover other hidden clogs. Another thing to take note of is the condition of the bristles on the roll itself. Are they loose or worn down? These are signs that your brush roller is in need of replacing. While checking out your brush roll you might as well take a look at your vacuum's belt. Your belt should be replaced about every three months. After regular usage, the belt will stretch out, lessening the tension on the brush roller. Lesser tension diminishes the brush roller's turn rate and speed. If the belt feels loose then it certainly is affecting your vacuums suction as well as your brush roll not moving at all. My progessive kenmore vac is having a buring smell coming from it. I read here on this website to check the belt but I cant even get to the belt without breaking the thing into peices. What if I break

Look under the bottom. Locate the Grill section covering the brushes. This will tilt down when opened. Try either side to see which part flips open. When open, pull the brush toward you. It will pop out in your direction. Lift out the brush along with the Belt. The belt sits in a groove and it may be soft by now. Remove it. Get a new Belt at WalMart. Slip the new belt end up and around the motor pulley and the other end around the brush pulley. The belt will tend to be very tight and need your muscles. It wont brake, so use some strength to get a good connection. When the belt is on both the motor pulley and the brush pulley, push the brush back into the chamber and lock in place. Your done.

Kenmore upright vacuum model 116.35923500.

There is a switch that tells the cleaner that the upright is locked upright and the beater bar won't spin until you depress the foot release and tilt the cleaner. This switch mount is poorly designed, its just sitting in a pocket at the pivot of the cleaner. I had to double stick tape it in the pocket to keep it from moving around and put silicone spray on the pivot. The pivot actuates the switch, but its a bad design.
  • Remove front cover, to do this, pull out the bag, remove the screws under the bag and on the outside. 12 screws total.
  • Locate switch on pivot
  • Confirm mounting of switch, re-adjust and use tape or epoxy.
  • Reassemble and test.
  • This is for a Kenmore 35923500 upright direct drive.

Brush not moving, suction working

This machine is made for Sears by Panasonic. The power head, depending on model has a "gear" / cog belt or a standard flat rubber belt. First turn the power head over and see if the brush roller turns easily, if so you do need a new belt. To access the belt you will have to remove the hood from the power head. There are 4 screws, one at each of the corners to take out. Once the hood is off you will see where the belt goes and find "teeth" in the motor shaft for the motor / brush roller if you need a gear belt. If both of these are flat you need a rubber belt.
You can go to sears.com and find the belt you need with the vacuums model number.

Fix ya are morons

Hey ... I dont know about the others, I am just a ordinary guy trying to answer questions which posters post. I try to do the best I can. I try to use life experience and common sense in my answers. Frankly, if you dont like the pictures, dont view them. BTW, this is a free site and you are free to come and you are free to go.

The men and women posting the answers dont select the pictures, I think the pics are selected either by the site or the people asking the questions. In either event, is your expectation really that Fixya has a picture of every device that people ask about? Next you would complain about the color not matching your device! Give me a break!

I have only asked one question here on Fixya ... and I think the site selected the picture ... (My question has never been answered yet, I have supplied more than 500 answers to all types of questions.)

I think most other experts would feel the same

... and what have you done today to make this a better community my friend?????

No suction

If the motor is running and is not full of dirt, and the hose is not plugged, the canister must be cracked or open somehow.

If the motor on the power brush is running the belt is bad, if the motor on the power brush only runs when you push the overload, the overload is bad.

Indicator block has broken twice

If you are referring to the bag fill indicator this is a common occurrence and many mid to low range vacs.It may begin to stick as dirt build s inside. You could try using a multi ply filter bag for less dust leakage

The beater of my kenmore vacuum won't turn on -

Kenmore vacs generally have three male contacts at the machine end.Internally when the hoses swivels these contacts run on three brass rings which can also get dirty due to proximity to dirt. They can get dirty or dirt can fall into the corresponding female socket where the hose meets the vac. If you have just changed the bag inspect these connections near the intake port on the vac.
The working LED means you have a partial connection. Also try wiggling and twisting gently at the handle of the hose and where the wand connects to the hose and the power head elbow... you have 4 connections between vac and head

Need to know if a replacement part can be purchased and where

Kenmore canisters are privately labeled Panasonic canisters and sometimes panasonic parts will fit them. Any reputable independent dealer should be able to tell you if the part you're looking for is intercharngable with a Panasonic, but he/she will probably need to actually see the unit.

Your other option is to take it to the Sears service dept. They are the only ones who have access to the schematics and "Kenmore" parts. It'll probably be more expensive through them though.

Brush is not turning

You may not have power to the power head. Check the plug at the neck of the power head, also the wand connections to make sure they aren't burnt. Most of these powerheads also have a circuit breaker on the top of it, press it to see if it will re-set. At the end of the hose handle, there is a female plug where the wand plugs into, push it ans see if it will move inward or not. If it does, then it has broken loose inside of the handle and isn't allowing a connection to the wand. The switch on the hose handle may be bad. The power head motor could be bad. These are the most common problems when the power head won't run.
