Many thoughts on that out here. I have seen 30,000 miles on a well keep 883. Then it was re-ringed and may not have needed it. Taking care of your bike not only means changing the oil, and doing reg. maintenance things, but driving her with longevity in mind. But when one has a cool Harley one does not want to drive it like a Little old lady. So, we have drive in the gap of "I'm cool, but I don't need to smoke the road, cause I want to be driving this thing 20 years from now". Now if you want, I will drive yours for you, to see just how far I can go. Be sure to clean it up nice before you bring it over.

Well, this is an impossible question to answer. There are simply too many variables that one must consider not to mention the unknowns. I've seen the bikes with as much as 75K miles on the bottom end running well. Top ends need freshening up from time to time. Depending on how a person rides the bike has a lot to do with how often this has to be done.

Synthetic motor oil - Does it last any longer than regular motor oil ?

No. It does not last any longer than regular motor oil. The oil filter cannot pick up metal particles that are 50 times smaller than the diameter of the human hair. They accumulate over time. By the time you have driven 6000 miles, these micro sized metal particles start to cause excessive wear on the engine. This motor oil still has plenty of life in it. But it must be changed no later than 6000 miles, due to an inadequate oil filter that cannot pick up micro sized metal particles. All oil filters allow these micro sized metal particles to pass right through it. If your car has the feature of % of oil life left, you still need to change the motor oil at or before 6000 miles, regardless of the % of oil life left. It does not matter what brand of synthetic motor oil that you buy. They all need to be changed at the same interval that was stated in this article.

Where is my drain plug located on my 2006 sporster 883 for motor oil

Look on the left side of the bike below the battery box. They've changed them over the years but you'll see a large diameter hose that either has a plug in it or it is simply plugged onto the frame. If you pull the hose off the frame, be ready with something to catch the oil with.

Good luck

1994 sporster 883 rocker box bolt torque specs and order

unless you have the motor out its near if not impossible to get a torque wrench on the bolts so what most do use blue loctite on your bolts and draw all bolts down evenly till you make metal to metal [cover to rocker] then maybe 1/8 turn more the key is even torque

What type of motor oil used in 1994 harley davidson 883

harley recomends that you use their oil but i would be carefull because it is a cynthetic now if you were using regular oil what that will do is clean all the old build up out of the motor this can be bad because after time there are pin hole leaks that occure but the build up stops it from leaking but if you use cynthetic you cant go back to regular oil it will gum up on you and ruen your motor so you got to find out what has been put in it. but use a 10-30

Oil blow out the breather

An overfull oil tank will do it. Even if not overfull just about all harley's will blow oil out the air filter. Unless there is a bunch of oil coming out, it's not a problem What I've found is that the air filter eventually gets saturated and then starts to leak through. The level in the oil tank doesn't seem to matter. If you change the air filter the problem goes away, until the new one gets saturated and then it starts all over again. My plan is to get a K&N air filter, which you can clean yourself and save having to buy a new air filter every 4,000 miles or so.
