Posted on May 03, 2011

I bought a Kawasaki ninja zx6r 1998 its been sitting in a garage for a few months. It satrts o.k with alot of choke but cuts out at low revs, took it for a run around the block and the top speed was 45mph. I have ordered new spark plugs, oil and filter and air filter. The dealer i bough it from said the carbs where stripped and cleaned 3 days bofore the bike was sold. Is there any thing else i should do ? Any advice ? ... help

Drain all the fuel and put super high test in it, look for cracks or any leaks from the heads and cylinder walls

No. 1 carburator loads up only when idleing or low rpms clears up once you open up throttle a time or two. took it off sprayed with carb cleaner still the same problem help please. 2000 ninja 9r e1

how's the plug look, float could be stuck, or hieght not set correctly. tab on float is bent leaving the fuel needle open slightly, or check synchroization of all 4 carbs and the choke linkage to all 4 carbs. choke could be full or partially turned on for that carbs .
good luck

Poor throttle response below 4,000 revs.

The carbs need to be re-tuned for the exhaust. It doesn't seem like like it needs to be rejetted just idle mixtures adjusted. this would be something that a mechanic should do because there are four carbs and they need to be syncronized with each other
