I have a 2006 suzuki gz 250 this week it started tapping the oil is fine well today it stalled on me and won't crank it has fire and will turn over but i'm thinking it may be the timing what is your suggestion?

If you heard the tapping noise even after the engine warmed up i suspect your valve clearances are out of spec. i would check these or send it to a reputable shop to do this for you.

It's a 4 stroke. get back to the basics. It needs spark, fuel & compression to have combustion. Start checking each. What evers missing is the problem.
had same problem with a suzuki savage...my fix was to tie two overflows together with a t joint...
..its an airflow problem of some sort... also, some bikes have to run on reserve or prime always...its not a perfect system
If it has only sat for a week, then your not in any real trouble. As long as your seals are good and no water has leaked into the gas tank, then it should be able to start right up.
I just did the tune up on my wifes bike (Gz 250) and the oil cap says 10w 40, and it takes roughly a quart. Im pretty sure there is no sepperate gear oil for this bike...
Pull the fuel hose off to see if fuel will run out when the fuel tap is 'on'. If nothing, check the tap filter screen for plugging and clean it with spray carburetor cleaner. If you get fuel to run out, try checking the float needle in the carburetor for sticking.
