My battery died and after replacing the battery nothing happens

My battery died and after replacing the battery when i turn the key to start the engine the dash light up but their is now sound from the starter or anything. any suggestions?

Did you mean there is NO sound from the starter? The question says there is now sound from the starter. If it is a quick clicking noise, the new battery needs to be charged. Try getting a jump start for it or returning the battery, it should have come charged already. Not a good sign, these things sometimes bought new come with bad cells.

check that the battery posts and terminals are shiny clean and tight.. Batteries can read 12.5v on a multimeter but under load they die to virtually nothing. have a load test done on the battery as the indications are a bad cell

try jumping if it jumps or you get power from a jump its your battery it can die over night this is common runs good one day then will not do it the next i would start there first if it turns over after a jump that is your problem.Replace the battery most batteries only last up to 18months

Try checking the key reader it's usually a plastic ring around the key barrel. If it's dies will not read code in key to enable the car to start. Check your key is sending a code as well.

Sounds like the hold coil in the starter shorted out. You will have to replace the starter.

I has an 86 Mustang that did a similar thing and it turned out that the battery actually shorted out. This happens when one of the plates inside the battery brakes off and then touches another plate. When mine died it was like I turned the iginition off. It wouldn't turn over even with jumper cables.
