Question about Suzuki Motorcycles

Open Question

MY SUZUKI GSXR RUNS FINE, THEN POORLY AS IF ITS RUNNING OUT OF FUEL, THEN FINE AGAIN AND VICE VERSA. ITS JUST ALL OVER THE PLACE. CAN ANYONE HELP ME OUT AND GIVE ME SOMETHING TO TRY?

I have a Suzuki GSXR 1100. Bike always starts and runs. Some times it runs awesome, other times it runs poorly, as if its running out of fuel (but its not, because i bypassed the fuel filter) I'll Shut it down, and restart it and maybe it will run great again? Some times it will and some times it won't. Its unpredictable. I've taken apart the carberator to clean it, looks good put it back together and same thing.

SOURCE: starts runs min. or two then stops....

Go to toro.com then click customer care, then click manuals and parts. Type in model no. and download the owners manual. This should get you the spark and flywheel gap. Probably still something in the carb. Some orifices are very hard to find and to clean but they must be clean. Also check for dirt dopper nest in the muffler.

Yes you may need a carb kit. It is not good practice to by-pass the fuel filter. The orifice in the jet is very small.
But anyways, There Could still be a blockage inside the carb, a small leak at the manifold, or the jet is worn out.
Let me know how it goes.

The first thought that comes to mind is a high pressure oil leak. The injectors have a snap ring on top that sometimes becomes detached and it will create these symptoms.

When you depress the brake it sends a signal to the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) and the PCM increases the idle because it predicts you are about to shift into gear. If the truck has a high pressure leak inside the engine it will have a hard time building pressure initially and once the oil warms and thins out the High Pressure Oil Pump cannot hold the pressure and the oil leaks faster because it is thinner.

You may have a leak around the pump area which is under the turbo also. The IPR which is the regulator that controls the oil pressure may also be bad. It is directly under the turbo as well. The IPR is located under the turbo on the High Pressure Oil Pump cover. You stated the seals were leaking on the IPR itself? If the orings are damaged or if the screen in the end of it is collapsed or even punched through with a small hole it will need replaced. Screen damage is usually a sign of debris entering it from either dirt from a previous repair or something is coming apart inside.

Make certain you have clean oil and fuel filters. Yor may want to check fuel pressure as well. It should be somewhere around 55psi on acceleration.

Additionally, I suggest check for voltage at the connector on the fuel pump. The pump is mounted in the filter housing on the frame and the connector is at the front of it. The pink and black wire should have 12 volts with the key on for about 30 seconds. If the pump has voltage but is not running, then your pump has failed. If there is no voltage then check fuse 2.40 in the central junction box. This is the fuse that feeds the inertia switch through the fuel pump relay. I have included a fuse box layout and a wiring diagram (click over images for zoom)...

Additionally, will need to scanned the PCM to know if some fault code is stored there.

could be an inline filter inside the fuel line from the tank, this can block over time and totally restrict fuel to motor.

Only thought Is the Kick stand switch
Is a kickstand on or was there one ever on this bike? If the switch thinks the kickstand is down it will stall out as soon as you kick it into gear.

Bike is actually a GSXR 1100 93 model, running perfect one day not the next, has plety of spark has fuel, fuel running through smell it coming from exhaust. All leads and fuses are good. Wont fire wont...

I would have a look at the condition of air filter and air intake manifolds for obstructions, the carby jets for scum build up and floatbowl levels for eveness and for air leaks on intake manifolds to the heads. Are the header pipes heating evenly when first warming up and do the same pressures exit all exhausts. Have you got good even compression.
The link below has all the sections of your bike in exploded view form with parts named and numbered.
Goodluck, cheers!

if the bike has not been used for some time the fuel may have gone off and fouled the spark plugs.sounds like you will need to fit new plugs, and also listen to make sure you can hear the fuel pump run when yoiu turn on the bike. hope this helps

Rebuild the top end? Run screaming from that shop. The fact that they said they couldn't sync the carbs should have been your first clue. I would have been suggesting a fuel problem anyway but take it to a shop that knows what it's doing and you should be fine but you will probably have to replace th spark plugs because of the fuel problem.

Suzuki gsxr k6 600 fuel injectors problems The F1 light has come on when I started the bike up it alternates between the temp and F1 I have not started the bike in a while 1 month

The display is really FI as in Fuel Injection. The fuel injection computer has sensed a fault in the Injection system. You will need to ride the bike to a dealer and have them read the fault codes. It is probably just something minor. Major faults will not allow the bike to run. You will not hurt the bike if you ride it.

Can I get a “very helpful” rating on this answer?

My suzuki 1986 gsxr wont start. a few weeks ago i was riding it and it was a little troublesome with the clutch shifting, now it just wont run. it wants to start but it wont. and when it try to start it,...

Hi there!
Too much gas mixture or there maybe plug problems. If it doesnt start, charge the battery and start the bike with new spark plugs. Replace the plugs, this usually works.
Let me know if this is any good. Other options:

1. THe spark plug cable
2. The ballast
3. The jets are clogged
4. Poor fuel quality.
