Suspension, Brakes and Tires
The 2004 Suzuki Volusia 800 comes with an oil-damped telescopic front suspension, and link-type, oil-damped, seven-way adjustable rear suspension with spring preload. The front and rear brakes are single disc. The bike has a 130/90-16 front tire and a 170/80-15 rear tire.

Have you try to rev it up stationary (no load) and with load on its centre stand, any RPM drop or struggling?
Have you checked the jet seats, idle jet seats, perhaps fuel filter.rectifier/regulator state, float bowl seating impedement, vacuum line and oil level.
Does it burn any oil or have low compression in cylinders or valve are not closing properly?

do you have a k and n air filter,or the like?

Hey Rick, due to this possibly being a safety issue.. I would recommend a trip to a QUALIFIED professional! Do not gamble with your - (and a passengers) safety!.... beautiful female passengers do not like road rash..!!

Wendy, Check the starters wiring circuit for a pinched/bare/damaged wire. Check the attached links,instruction and guides,good info. to trouble shoot your problem. Engine oil Capacity:

With filter change: 3.6 U.S Quarts (3,400 ml)
Without Filter Change: 3.2 U.S Quarts (3,000ml)

Note: This bike does not have a dipstick, but a sight-glass on the right side of the crankcase. To get an accurate estimate of the oil level, the bike must also be level and not on the side stand.

Hi Jack get an oil pressure test done. If its ok replace the oil pressure switch. Regards Jim...

if you cant get to all the bolts,then you will havr to pull it or drop down the front,there is no clearance to do much except maybe change a head gasket

Check battery and fuses and there is a fuse on the starter solenoid , follow red positive terminal from battery to solenoid fuse will be on or in solenoid housing or case
