Falls out of second gear and only second gear, after it falls out a couple times it bends a tab on the linkage rod and will get stuck in neutral. i've already been in this bike to get it out of neutral, , why is it coming out of second?

The yzf600r has a large gap between 1st and 2nd gear. if you don't shift into second firmly every time, what happens it that over time the dogs which engage 2nd gear gets worn/rounded off, and the "falling out" starts to occur during hard acceleration in 2nd. once the problem is there, the only way to fix it is to replace the affected gears: 2nd and 6th ( the gear 2nd slides in to), the shift fork, and the shift cam.

this requires a complete teardown and splitting the cases. about $3-400 in parts, depending on where you purchase them, and 8-12 hours labor depending on your level of expertise.

a qualified shop would charge $1500-2000.

Got stuck innthird gear.wondering ifs somthing to do with syncronizer? Hoping its anything but a gone gearbox.

Yes You need to go under and free up linkage. Take a couple of screwdrivers to pry with and a light hammer. You may have to GENTLY force all the shifter to Neutral position. You may have move more than one rod at a time to free it up

Hope this helps let me know Mike

John Deere 262 parking brake won't disengage. Stuck in neutral and won't move

Marti: According to GreenTractorTalk.com, T Mo said: "A couple of things come to mind, first is the brake sticking. Second is the brake linkage needing adjusting, therefore not releasing the brake. Thirdly, the linkage for the gears itself." This YouTube video shows brakes but not for your model: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ce_d9-2c7wI

I was driving my 95 f-i50 five speed and when I was going to down shift it was hard to get out of gear but when i had it neutral it was still in 5th

Check the linkage. It sounds like you have a disconnected linkage rod. (Sometimes the retaining clips fall out.)

Accent stuck in first gear,

There's a couple of rods, either on the gearchange linkage or on the outside of the gearbox, one does front to rear action on the gear lever, the other does left to right. theres usually a worn ball joint on the end of the rod which has probably fell off! Will need a new rod to fix the problem, a temp repair can sometimes be made with a couple of cable ties to hold the ball joint together until a new part can be got.

Gear stuck in neutral

check linkage bars from shifter to transmission you will find 2 of them generally what happens is that the ball or pivot gets worn and ends up falling off.

Transmission Stuck

I ended up replaceing my left footpeg and shifter that I broke off in the fall I previously wrote about.  When I was taking the shifter linkage upper screw off it cause the transmission to shift from the torque.  I suppose it happened a couple times as I was looseining the bolt.  I believe that would have been an upshift.  Now that I have it back together it wont shift.  It is stuck in a high gear.  I hope I did not really screw something up.  Any ideas on what happened or what I should do. you should try jumping on the shifter. This will sound stupid on my part but have you tried rocking the bike back and forward while apply pressure to the shifter this seems to help on my bike to get into neutral,,,

Cannot engage transmission from first to second gear

Usually this is a linkage problem, and most often the rubber lined coupling between two rods in the linkage system. This fails as the rubber ages, and when it does you are unable to select some or all gears, and might be stuck in one gear!

Not too difficult to re and re, and part is available from Saab dealer at reasonable cost.

Coupling may be located inside the car, under the console, ahead of the gear lever housing, or on the other side of the firewall
