Install new spark plugs and add a can of seafoam to your gas at the rate of one ounce per gallon to clean your carbeurator.

SOURCE: Bike back fires

its sounds like your carby needs a tune..... it really isnt hard to do yourself if you know hot to adjust the jets but really should go to a shop.......wont cost much at all just rid in wait 5 mins and ride away but if i were you i would put it in for a major service if you have the money to coz the mechanics will find any little problems before they turn into big ones

If it has been laid up for over a month , I would drain the carburettors...

Does my bike have a fuel filter

Only if it was requested or installed after purchase or during the recall repairs on the fuel pump gasket.

Fuel filter and how many rpm's should my bike be idleing at

The filter is located on the fuel line half way between the tank and carbs (if it has one as some bikes don't) The Rpm's at idle should be around 900 but can be a little higher or lower for better sound or performance.

It wont stay running in stalls out from time to time

Change the fuel filter, clean the carb jets again, and replace the air filter. This should take care of it but sometimes when they sit for awhile, you will need to clean the carbs numerous time as the gunk in the tank continues to wash down into the carbs.

93 katana 600 wont start

Take one of the plugs out and hold it against the head while the engine cranks. You should get decent spark. If not, you have an ignition problem. If it gets decent spark, try spraying some starting fluid into the air cleaner box. If the engine starts up and runs for a couple seconds, you have a fuel delivery problem.

Bike cranks and wont start

Hi .... Sounds like regulator/rectifier is defective. Fully charge battery and try starting again, place multi-meter across battery and it should show 12.8-14 volts. If it doesn't replace reg/rec unit.
