Starter motor

Take the spark plugs out and take breather hoses off and let it dry out.your carbs may need cleaned and synchronized. Also change the oil and you should be fine.

1996 600 bandit only starts on two right hand cylinders

Ok if it starts on number 3 and 4 this pretty much rules out an ignition problem as two and three share a coil as do one and four.so the most probable problem will be carburation.usually it's a water in the fuel problem is f it's affecting one and two especially if you parking on the side stand alot.in the fuel cap well there is a small drain hole on the left take the fallout to see it.it drains rain water through it but if it blocks up which it does then every time you open the cap it empties the water in the tank.so check the hole is not blocked and the pipe under the tank isn't crimped .and drain all the carbs off by draining them by undoing the drain bolts right on the bottom about one and a half turns.I've got the 1200 by the way !

My suzuki gsf 600 bandit 1999 wont start.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, try with the sidestand folded up and / or the clutch lever pulled in.  Likewise determine if there is a clicking sound when the start button is pressed:
  • if there is a clicking sound, locate the starter relay. Follow the big cable from the battery's + terminal; it would end in nother terminal of the starter relay:
  1. turn ignition ON and kill switch to RUN;
  2. short the 2 big terminals of the starter relay. Expect a big start. If the starter spins, startr relay is faulty.
  • if there is no click, then the safety interlocks are preventing the relay from engaging. Check the neutral switch/wire and sidestand switch/wire.
It is of course assumed that the battery is fully charged and that the battery cablles/connectors are clen and tight.  Postback result(s) of tests.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.

Try to start the bike while using Jumper leads. Your battery is probably flat.

What is prime on petrol tap on bandit 600

Prime is for when you have taken the carbs off and need to fill up the float bowls. And your arrow should be pointing to ON when your driving the bike. Usually this is UP or to the rear of the bike on most bikes if it doesnt have a engraving on the petcock to show you.you can also check an owners manual online for the correct position.

I was riding the bike

I suspect that either your magneto is shot, the battery, or the electronic ignition is? Check to see if there is anything coming out of the magneto etc, this is the first place to look.. and go from there....

1996 suzuki bandit 600, I

Fuel mix is escaping either due to the oil level being too high, usually when diluted with fuel from an overflowing carburettor Or if the engine pours out white smoke at the same time, it may be due to duff rings ie the crankcases are being pressurised by gases getting past the rings on compression stroke
Good luck Ride Safe Bike-Doc

Fuel tap problems , runs

check the vacuum pipe it runs from inlet on number4 pot to center of fuel tap simply works by suction pull pipe off from where it joins inlet
noting where it came from leave it connected to centre of fuel tap remove other two pipes also notinting position they came from
now clean loose end of the vacuum pipe place pipe between lips and apply suction nothing but air should flow through this pipe
but this test will open diaphram in tap fuel should flow from other two pipes
if any fuel comes through vacuum pipe diaphram is gone replacement parts availible for this on major auction site and wemoto.com

My Suzuki bandit wont start. There is a spark but

Flooding is a good possibility but fuel take months to congeal. Are your plugs new? Spark plugs may spark in the open but will not spark under pressure - try replacing the spark plugs.
