You need to start somewhere. get hold of a scanner and see if car has a crank signal. the crank signal supplies refrence for both base for ignition and injection pulse. if it has injector pulse and no spark, look at the ignition module/ coils but if has neither look at the crank sensor or harness to the module

You need the 3 essentials for proper engine operation.Fuel, spark, and compression. You said the fuel pump is working but the question remains;is fuel reaching the fuel rail.Try starting the car and then take one spark plug out and check it for fuel odor.

I have a 88 Z24 Cavalier that when you start it it will start and die like its not getting fuel. we have checked the injectors the spark plugs and the injector wires everything works perfectly fine bu

on older models we had a procedure as follows.
hook up a remote starter switch turn key to on position and crank.
if there is no attempt to start or fire then the problem is in the electrical wiring. won't run in ignition on but will run in ignition start position.
They used to use fusible links that blew when they got old.
hope this helps.

Yes, the crank sensor is used both for spark timing and tach/shift switch. Check the connector and wiring first. The sensor is centered on the back of the engine. If that looks OK, put a new sensor in. They only cost $14 at autozone.

My 88 cavalier z24 starts to run rough as it warms up it is throwing ecm code 43. what is esc and how do you fix low voltage to it

Electronic Spark Control runs a self check and it failed the check. You need to replace the HEI module inside the distributor, check all the wires and connectors for rust and clean as needed.
