Most cars have a dipstick, check the fluid when it is hot, and running. If it is low, find the right fluid, there are about 20 different ones out there. and a long skinny funnel, fill it right through the dipstick hole. Now for the fun part, if you don't have a dipstick, then you have 2 plugs on the right side of the tranny, the bottom plug is the fluid level, the top one is the filler, a squirt bottle comes in handy here, pull the bottom plug, if fluid seeps out, it is full. If it doesn't, pull the top plug out and fill it till it seeps out the bottom, then plug it up, you should be all set. Hope this helps.

What do you do if the transmission locks up after use of Lucas engine oil leak?

Did you put ENGINE oil leak in the transmission? That's probably why the transmission locked up. If you put it in the engine, it had nothing to do with your transmission locking up. In either case, your vehicle needs to be diagnosed by a reputable, qualified transmission shop.

Transmission fluid keeps emptying while motor oil keeps rising

Your radiator needs to be replaced. Chances are you have transmission and oil cooler lines going through them and there are mixing inside the radiator.

I have a 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe and I accidently put motor oil in the A/T oil spot. What should I do?

Don't run the engine at all. If it was started, the transmission pump will have pumped the motor oil all through the transmission-go have it professionally flushed. If the engine was not started, drop the transmission pan to drain the fluid, and get a new transmission filter. Put it back together and run the engine until the transmission fluid gets hot. Then change the fluid and filter again. After this, monitor the transmission fluid dipstick. If any traces of more motor oil in the pink fluid, do the drain and change filter a third time. (buy a case of transmission fluid-each drain and change will take about 6 quarts.)

How do I top-up the transmition oil in my 1988 Mitsubishi Lancer. I can locate the dip-stick, but not the location for topping up the oil. Regards Ian

Use a funnel and put in the transmission oil through the transmission dipstick tube. Don't put too much. Insert transmission oil in increments just to be sure.

Were do i put transmission fluid in the tranny 1997 cadi catera

Your Catera has a sealed for life transmission so therefore on one of these models there is no dipstick and you cannot check the fluid level yourself. The dealer can check the level but that is only necessary if you have a leak. Use a premium grade oil and a quality filter such as AC/Delco, Wix, Purolator, or Bosch. The correct weight oil is listed in your owner's manual and possibly on the oil fill cap or dipstick.

PUT ABOUT HALF OLD OIL I HAD STORED IN TRANNY CONTAINER IN TRANNY

Improper fluids in a automatic transmission can cause severe results.
Drain the transmission fluid and change the filter.
If the car was running at the time you put engine oil in the transmission, I would also flush or drain the torque converter.
Replace with the proper amount and type of fluid.
