09 aveo, only 13.5k miles, serviced at 13k , just got it on Sunday 30/1/11, smell of burning with eggy smell coming from engine. No sign of broken belt or leaking oil. Any ideas?

does your car have AC.... ? ac problems can make a eggy smell also a damaged catalytic converter do the same. eggy smell can be the gas from the ac leaking out. you would need to have this check as it can do harm to your lungs..

Replace pump up lifters,, or install Active fuel management delete kit,,best bet

If you have been (revving the car/racing/accident/excessive speeding) you will smell something similar to burning oil from the engine, also if it has been more than 10,000kms (6000 mile) since last oil change you should get it serviced.

could be valve cover gasket.this V6 will be two.

You might want to look at all the hot surfaces under the hood. it sounds like something made of plastic is touching something hot.

check to make sure you dont have anything (plastic bag, etc) burned and stuck on the exhaust, othere than that it could be a normal smell associted with the different materials getting hot, i would compare it to another like vehicle and see, could also be trapped odors in the heater core caused by a previous smoker or bacteria growing, gm sells an odor elimnator that works pretty well

If the blower motor is still working, that was not the problem-the strange smell might have been from some bacteria in the plenium, and the smoke may have just been the result of condensation from the evaporator in the plenium-keep an eye on it, but if the blower is working, I would not be overly concerned about it.

Sounds like to me a ignition coil, and your car has 4 so this could possibly mean in the future more visits to the garage, to be sure I can suggest taking off the top engine cover and see if you have 4 grey ignition coils, manufactures name SAGEM, also now factory replaces with black coils.

sounds like you have bad engine seals. you should press them (audi). unless you drive 40,000 miles a year there's no way you should have this problem with a 2008

You should definately replace the battery. It is probably battery acid gas you are smelling. Eggy or sulfury?
