i have a 2000 vw jetta and i think the clutch is slipping
    how much to repair?

I have the same problem, 2000 VW Jetta VR6. The clutch started slipping about 2 months ago. It's getting pretty bad. I just oredered an OEM Sach's Clutch kit online for around $250.00. It was the best deal I could find. The cheapest price I found for just the labor (using the clutch kit I bought) was about $430.00. The clutch kit includes the clutch, pressure plate, and throw out bearing, and the $430.00 will install all 3. That's the best price I could find. I got a couple quotes from local shops that I've gone to in the past and with their parts and everything I was quoted around $1,000.00.

I just bought a repair manual for my car that tells me how to completely rebuild the clutch. I'm taking my car with the clutch kit over to my Dad's tomorrow morning to try and do it myself, if we can't get it done this weekend then I'm just going to bite the bullet and drop it off and cough up the $430.00.

Hope it helped dude... good luck.

From what is was told locally is that it would be around $800 - $1000 and can take just around a full day to do. it is not a quick job, so labor costs can be high and the price of parts play a big factor in it just because it is a vw.

Clutch replacement instructions for 1986 VW Jetta

The release bearing goes in the back of the transmission. You'll need to remove the round "VW" cap on the end of the transmission. I would need to see the pilot bushing to know for sure. It could be the starter bushing or the clutch pushrod bushing.

Ac compressor in 2000 vw jetta wont kick on

the first thing that i would check would be to see if there is votage going to the clutch. if there is not then check the pressure switch, relay, and fuse. if there is voltage to the clutch then replace the clutch and that SHOULD solve your problem.
