What can WEwedo to solve the problem that our 96 Pontiac Grand Am has, it starts everytime but dies after runnng a few seconds. We have tried the start it 3 times and leave the key on for 10 minutes solution, we have replaced the lock cylinder, Help please, my daughter needs her car and cannot afford a new one!

If your security light is flashing it sounds like it's security locked and the only way tho unlock it is to go to a GM dealership to have it reset usually running you around $75.

did you change the fuel at the same time as the pump replacement.are you losing fuel pressure/volume that was checked with a gage(have seen it happen with a new pump).does your car have anti-theft on it,it could have set and not allowing the car to start and run.
I would call a dealer because usually when there's flashing lights involved it's a code. If it runs for a few seconds then dies it could be a plugged fuel pump or plugged line. The pump is able to pull enough fuel to let it run for a short time but then runs out. Hope it helps.
