My 86 Camry (2SELC engine) could not start in the cold weather. The car ran OK when it starts (two days ago, it was parked inside the garage, it started up fine). I have replaced the battery, cold-start injector and cold-start time-switch so far, but it still could not start. I did the spark test, there were sparks. The engine cranks OK, but it just would not start. What should I do next? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Fuel pump. could be electric to that or a failure of the pump itself.

I asked this guestion last year but got no response. 1998 Mark VIII runs very rough in cold weather. Started it this last spring (cool weather) ran rough. Used it all summer ran fine Please help.

Probably a lean fuel issue . Engine coolant temperature sensor reading warmer than it actually is causing a too lean mixture , restricted injectors, restricted fuel filter , weak pump or bad regulator on return systems causing too low of fuel pressure , Mass Air Flow contamination .

I get a warning message, "HIGH ENGINE TEMPERATURE-STOP ENGINE" from our 2002 S60 Volvo upon starting. The check engine light also comes on. The electric fan come on and runs for approx. 2-3 minutes....

Mine is doing the same thing. I have taken it to the shop and the mechanic can't find anything wrong with it. When he resets the diagnostic, the car runs fine for a few days then it happens again. I'm thinking it is something due to the cold temps here in NW Iowa. It is obviously not a cold weather car!

I live in Boones Mill Virginia which borders Roanoke. I was driving home in a snow storm last Friday and suddenly my check engine light came on. When I arrived at the baby sitter's house, I turned the car...

Change the mass air flow meter. Its located on the inlet pipe from the air filter. Also change the air filter. That gets damp in cold and snowy conditions causing the fuel mixture to be to ritch. That will cause the engine management light to come on.Good luck phil.

1990 Camry won't start

I wouldnt say wrong spark plugs but maybe the wrong gapping on the spark plugs.. Is the car parked in a garage? it sounds like maybe your fuel pump

Whats going on

most likely the problem is you have blowby. the oil is coming up past your worn piston oil rings which is causing oil everywheres. start your car and remove the oil dipstick and see if oil comes out. if not you need a engine rebuild or new used motor which would be cheaper in the long run.

Hi,
My name is Dennis and I think you have your finger on the problem but you may need encouragement.
Please consider the weather in relation to the events that you describe.
Also consider the repair was the car inside when it was repaired? and then did it start and run untill it was cold again?
When it's cold you have a problem except after the car is warm it's O.K. so the problem seems to be just when the car is cold.
I think the problem is the choke is too lean. If the car isn't Fuel injected the problem is the choke.
