There is a rear bar like piece that broke on my truck...it extends from one tire to another and now that it's broke the truck sways in the rear once you reach a certain speed...i thought it was the sway bar/stabilizer bar, but after looking at a picture of a sway bar I don't think it's the same thing..because of the shape...the broken piece is flat(like a platform) not round/tubular...please help me with the name of the piece/or a website I can view a picture of the rear diagram...thanks

What is the purpose of the swine bar? The bar right by the tire. it has broke in my vehicle.

You mean the sway bar? If so, the sway bar or roll bar, or sometimes called the stabilizer bar. The sway bar has two functions.
  1. To prevent body roll or lean in a turn.
  2. It is used to control the handling of the vehicle and is tuned to your specific vehicle based on many characteristics.
You most definitely need to replace the broken sway bar. A vehicle with a broken sway bar is not a safe vehicle. The handling is not what it should be and this can be dangerous if you have to make a quick maneuver. Replace it, ASAP.

Suspension?

have the sway bar looked at in the back. if it is loose or broken it will sway. it is the bar connecting the two rear wheels. there are upgrade kits that offer a heavier bar. Also check rear tire pressure. the tires will roll out if too low a pressure is aboard.

I dont think the sway bar will affect the tires at all, but i would suggest fixig it as it helps the car handle the road better.

Front sway bar on 1999 explorer is broke

Yes you will, and I would check the other suspension parts for wear first, ball joints are a major problem on this vehicles and cause the tires wear.
