My Steering is really stiff as well, i have checked the fluid and it is full. Before the power steering went, there was a little whistle whenever i turned the wheels.

I also have the same problem. Can I still drive it or will I harm the car. I just had the clutch fixed at a cost $1400 and can't afford an additional $1000 right now. Is it possible to fix myself and if so, how?

MOST LIKELY THIS IS THE POWER STEERING PUMP AND THE ELECTRIC ASSIST FAN UNIT CONNECTED TO IT. OFTEN THE FAN COVER WILL OR CAN GET CLOGGED, BUT MORE LIKELY IT IS THE PUMP. IF IT GOES OUT IT USUALLY DO SO SLOWLY. THE STEERING WILL BE HARDER BUT YOU WILL BE ABLE TO STEER. THE NORMAL COST FOR THE REPAIR IS $1000 WITH LABOR. IT DOES NOT TAKE LONG, BUT CONSIDER BUYING THE PART ONLINE AND DOING IT YOURSELF OR TAKE THE PART TO A COMPETENT GARAGE
AND HAVE THEM DO IT.YOU COULD SAFE HALF THE COST!
REALLY.

Power steering filter

Is it full of power steering fluid ? How are the hose's high pressure and low pressure ? Did you bleed the air out after changing the pump ? There is no filter .
Verify power steering fluid level per operating specification. Refer to Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid.
Start the engine. Rotate steering wheel from left to right. Check for sign of cavitation or fluid aeration (pump noise/whining).
Verify the fluid level. Repeat the bleed procedure, if necessary.

The steering is stiff and the fluid is full

Sounds like a power steering pump. The pump provides pressure to move the steering in both direction, with no hydraulic assist it will be stiff.

Power steering pump replaced, start to work ok, after 10 milles driving, steering wheel is hard, like pump is not working, under hood everything look ok.

My steering is really stiff fluid is full no leaks

Had same trouble with my 2005 F-150. There are 2 universal joints on the steering column shaft, 1 in the center of the shaft and the second down by the steering box. Sprayed rust check on these joints over 5 days and they eventually freed up and then covered them with grease. She steers perfect now and I did that last fall.Saved 700 dollars at the dealer.

The steering on my chevy is very hard making it

have the power steering pump checked, sounds like low pressure, a quick test drive by a front end tech will decide if the pump is the issue or the rack and pinion steering unit is the cause..

Power steering

your pump could possibly be going bad. if it sounds like the fluid is low even though it is full you need to replace the pump. also check the steering linkage and shaft to the steering gear box to make sure there are no obstructions. hope this helps...
