What should be the ideal reading in ohms for the oxygen sensor, since my 1997 suzuki esteem stalls at street corners; it seems unable to keep the motor idling...Could be another sensor (idle?), and what should the reading be? It was 2,000 ohms on my old Volks, but I have no idea what it is for this one. Thanks!

Ohm meter is not a reliable test for an oxygen sensor, the output of which should be tested with a bar type digital voltmeter so the voltage pulses can clearly be seen.

In theory at least, the required idle speed is programmed into the management computer which should be maintained by varying the ignition timing and the idle air valve.

In the absence of other faults a failure to idle could indicate a faulty or sticking idle air valve.
It is wise to check for such things as intake air leaks and basic engine settings, breather system...
Considering the age, if nothing else is found it would be wise to suspect the injector spray patterns.

I need to know where a cam shaft sensor goes in a 1999 Suzuki Esteem 1. 8 4 door stick show me diagrams

not true, Huseyin.! at all.
OP: (original poster)
J18 engine. FWD. application. USA setup
with COP coils x4 (DIS ignition?)
our Esteems started in 1999....
other countries have them too, but use totally different spark (distributor) and Im not answering for THAT, only USA EPA spec. engines.
some othere countries, has a Mazda. 1.8L BP.
answering for J18 only.
the J18 is an understoked, J20. (early engine)
good to know for parts swaps !

OP backup and read your first post.on same topic.
the answer is there, too.
facing engine, crank pulley on left
see that head, see the front cam,
this cam has the CMP drive (left side,) or right facing engine) the cam drives it directly.
so... is just there.

why? not scan the PCM and see if you have P0340 errors = CMP misfiring..... (even 1 in 10)
and the prev. post has the real diagram....
cmp mount is here.

http://www.fixkick.com/engine/20Liter/html/image_21.html

see it?

the part is also shown at the online suzuki parts pages.

Scan it, get this ???????

Reverse lights

nice double post, back up one and read.
but now adds MANUAL.
so the reverse switch is bad, remove it ,2wire switch
and put in new.

its just a simple Thomas Edison switch, (no electronics) nothing magic. the FSM< covers this, (factory service manual) as does
alldata.com
if an OHM meter (resistance low range) shows infinity in reverse its bad, if reads 0 ohms its good, so if good, the wires to it were bad.
or both lamp out, (can happen, ignored)

Would a problem be caused to use a 2003 Suzuki Esteem Mass Air Flow Sensor on a 2002 since it seems to be working great

They have to be exactly the same part electrically, etc

No way to know that unless the part number & application is the same

Your cars pcm won't have proper air flow readings if you don't
have the correct sensor

Are they the same,Don't know, that is up to you to research

Check engine light

Take your car to an auto store that will hook up there scanner for free. They will tell you what is wrong with the car, the scanner can also turn off the light, and they can sell you the parts you need to fix the car. Chances are you you need an oxygen sensor. Unfortunately, you may have two oxygen sensors that retail about $80 each ( they are the four wire kind self heating kind).

Can anyone tell me what the following codes are on my 1997 Cadillac Deville?? P0139, P0603, P1139, and P1599.....

Firstly, they are al P type codes, which refers to PCM.

P0139 - HO2S (Heated Oxygen Sensor) Slow Response Bank 1 Sensor 2. This is is the sensor in front of the catalytic converter.

P0603 - Internal Control Module Keep Alive Memory error. This error normally comes up when the battery is disconnected.

P1139 - HO2S (Heated Oxygen Sensor) Insufficent Switching Bank 1 Sensor 2. (see above)

P1599 - Engine Stall or Near Stall Detected.

I hope this helps.....I would attempt erasing the codes first and see if they come back, and then going from there.
