Intermittent ignition switch issues may be the problem . EGR valve occasionally sticking open when trying to crank or the EVAP purge valve opening while trying to crank . Temporary loss of crank sensor signal from loose connection .

It's possible that the condensate drain for the air conditioning evaporator is plugged. This will water on the carpet on humid days to form quickly. If there is antifreeze in the water then the heater core is leaking.
sounds like a fuel pump or filter problem. replace filter first its cheaper than a fuel pump.my fuel filter on my 01 530 was under the driver side half way back along the bottom rail of the car.i had to remove the aero plastic with a plug puller that gave me acess to it.try and replace that first. if it doesn work its prob.fuel pump.
Next time, before you try to start it, cycle your key to on,(not start),then off, then, on, then off. Now try to start it. Did that help ? If it did, have your fuel filter changed if not done recently. If it didnt, have it scanned for trouble codes, and either have it fixed or record them & get back to us.
