I have a 99 grand prix, Its definitely the switch, I have fixed mine 4 times in 5 yrs (they are defective) I know because I have 2 grand prix and they both fail. Anyway, you can fix them if you know how, if you dont, see if you can borrow a friends grand prix switch to replace and try before you buy one (just a thought) and if you dont need your old switch, you can give it to me.lol. Hope this helped, It sucks not being able to roll your window down because of the fear that it wont come back up. Especially in the winter/Rainy Season...Let us know if this helped.

Front window motor when out and window is down how do you fix it on a 1999 pontiac grand prix

This sucks when it happens, I have 2 grand prix and have had this happened a few times, First, if you need to get it up RIGHT NOW! This instant even if its late at night? Well its do able. You can remove the paneling, dis engage the motor and prop it up. You might have to cut a piece of wood to hold it up temporarily so that someone wont break in and steal stuff. If you just need a fix it solution, there are a few possibilities, the first thing i would recommend would be to check the window switch, they tend to go bad often. You can do this by 2 ways, One? buy a new one, or 2 get a second grand prix switch from a friend or a neighbor or from someone else and plug it in. If this works, just replace the switch, if it doesnt, then remove the door paneling, and place electricity on one of the connectors on the motor (dont worry which side as they both receive electricity when going up or down) if this works, its a faulty switch, if it doesnt, it might be (95% sure) the motor itself.

Rear passenger window is stuck with about a quarter to half inch open. Will not go up or down.

First remove the paneling (of the door) apply electricity to the motor, it doesnt matter to witch side as they both will carry power from one time to another, if that works, try checking the main switch on the driver side door, if you can get a friend to loan you his while you check or you might have to buy one. Its either the main switch or the passengers side switch if the window goes up when direct juice is applied to it.

Power window on 1999 pontiac grand prix gt 2 door driver side broke. motor still works but window wont stay up.

what I would recommend is that you will have to test the window actuator first. You will need to remove the door panel to get at the actuator. From there, just jump the actuator to see if the window goes up or down. Don't worry about which terminal is positive or negative, they are switched back and forth by the control switches.

1999 pontiac grand prix driver side window will not go up, can i get it up manualy for now

you have to remove the door panel to do so. once off, unplug the window motor and put a volt meter on the plug that plugs into the motor, not the motor itself. push the up/down button and if you get about 12 volts, if you do then your motor needs to be replaced. if not then the problem is prbably the main control switch on the drivers door. You have to remove the motor in order to get that window up or else it won't budge.

My power window went down fine but wont come back up. The motor is still fine in it and it doesnt seem to be off track?

IF THE MOTOR IS STILL FINE A ON TRACK IT HAS TO BE ELEC. SO PUSH THE UP SWITCH VERY FAST ALOT OF TIMES TO SEE IF IT GETS A CONNECTION. IF SOAND IT MOVES ITS THE SWITCH IF NOT YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE TO GET TO THE MOTOR PULL PLUG OFF PUSH SWITCH AND SEE IF IT IS GETTING ELEC THERE
