Where is the post under the hood of a 1991 BMW 535i that I can use to charge the battery?

  • Anonymous Jun 22, 2010

Hi. Is there a way to charge the battery without opening the back seat? The backseat doesn't want to open (though I know the battery is there. Can it be charged in another place? Thank you for all your help!

Did somebody tell you there was a post under there? They are talking about the battery post. If your battery has side mount terminals, it has no posts, and the side mounts are a nightmare to charge up. But it can be done. Is the battery getting weak? Did you check the water? Check the electrolytic stuff to see if it is worth charging. One of those floaty ball things. Walmart will check it for you for free, they like selling batteries. Your alternator should be charging the battery, unless it has been sitting a while. Hope this helps.

There might be a spot under the hood, maybe that is what the guy is talking about. You would have to jump through the main fuse/relay box, to get juice to the battery, the ground can hook to any metal part, the charger will tell you if you are connected or not. All of the hot wires are protected against a short, they have big plastic blocks holding it on to the fender or any metal part. I would feel safer getting the seat out, that way you can check the fluids in there. Check it out.

I just found out what it is, the terminals up front under the hood are for jumping, the battery is in the trunk, right side. You should be able to find both no problem. Hope this helps.

How do I replace the battery in my 2008 bmw 535i

It is very easy to replace the battery. It is located in the trunk.
however, you would have to take your car to BMW to reset the car since you have put a new battery in the vehicle.

I just bought a 2008 BMW 535i and the battery has already drained twice. The first time the battery drained in my driveway and another time it happened 1 hour away from home, leaving my wife stranded late...

The original equipment battery on this car is weak. I had to put a trickle charger on the battery for my 2008 BMW 535i to keep it charged. Your other option is to buy an aftermarket battery that is tougher than the original and costs less (about $110 versus $435).

Hey i will like to know whats killing my battery on my 1989 bmw 535i

Assuming your battery is good (go to Walmart and have them check it for you; they do this for free) the most likely cause is a light bulb in the glove box, interior light, under the hood, door ajar indicator or trunk that does not turn off when it is not needed. Try pulling various fuses each night when you park the car. The night the battery does not die you will want to focus on the system those fuses control as that is where your problem is.

Where is the Battery located on a 2006 535i?

Try looking under the rear passenger seat, grip rear seat and give it a sharp tug, slide seat forward.

Cant figure out how to change my battery

The battery is located beneath the rear seat. Give the rear seat a good upward yank to release from the snap-in holders. The battery is on the passenger side.
