That's a pretty serious short to ground.
Go back and closely look over the waterpump install and see if you pinched a wire somewhere.
It good policy to check the last thing you did just before the problem occurred.

Fairly obvious that you made an error in wiring the electric water pump, and have blown one or more fuses (or may have damaged some wiring).
Disconnect the water pump entirely (for now), and recover your electrical system (check all fuses, breakers, and fusible links).

NOTE THAT THE ELECTRIC WATER PUMP IS A HIGH ELECTRICAL CONSUMPTION MOTOR, AND MUST RECEIVE ITS POWER DIRECTLY FROM THE BATTERY THROUGH A CONTROL RELAY, preferably from the STARTER primary power wire. You will need to use an inline breaker (properly rated for the electrical current rating in AMPS for the electric water pump), and you will need to use a fairly robust relay to turn the water pump on and off with ignition switch power.

If you are unfamiliar with electrical principles related to high-amperage applications in a vehicle, I'd recommend that you refer the installation of your after-market water pump to someone with the necessary experience, so that you do not further damage your vehicle.

Best of luck to you!!

It is very easy to replace the battery. It is located in the trunk.
however, you would have to take your car to BMW to reset the car since you have put a new battery in the vehicle.

The original equipment battery on this car is weak. I had to put a trickle charger on the battery for my 2008 BMW 535i to keep it charged. Your other option is to buy an aftermarket battery that is tougher than the original and costs less (about $110 versus $435).

Loosing power is probably the computer trying to protect the engine from damage. The actual problem could be low coolant or a problem with the water pump.

This is done easiest with the car on a car lift. You lift the car and take the skid plate off. The thermostat is on the passenger side by the front of the engine. It two or three bolts the hold the thermostat and the hoses. It is a simple change.
