A diesel uses a different procedure. You'll need a tool to hold the camshaft pulley parallel to the top of the cylinder head. The timing mark to set TDC for piston #1 is located on top of bell housing. The pointer must be aligned on the diamond cut on the flywheel. A VW/Audi setting bar tool #2065A is needed to lock the camshaft in position. Lock the injection pumpin position using the special lock pin (VW/Audi special tool no. 2064). Caution: If the drive belt is broken or has jumped time, do not attempt to lock the sprocket at this time!!! You will also need VW/Audi special tool no. VW210 to measure belt tension between camshaft sproket and injection pump sprocket. So good luck.

When do u change the cambelt on a audi 4 2.5 diesel convertable 2005

Hi,
The manufacturer recommendation is 100K kilometers, they forget the traffic and idling operation of the engine. Most mechanics would recommend the safest time, that would be 70K kilometers or 3.5 years which ever comes.
Replacing the timing belt with tensioner bearing is must when you replace one of them.
Hope that helps you out.
Thanks for asking FixYa!

Fitting new cambelt on a honda civic 1.7d 2003 after cambelt failure need diesel pump timing mark.

You will need a Locking pin kit for timing the Pump to the Engine - and of course detailed instructions so that you do not damage anything - which can cost you quite a bit of money.

I beleive that your engine is an Izuzu. In any event, you will need to use the alignment/Locking pins on the Engine AND the Injector Pump.

My Audi 80 can't start after changing the timing belt, water pump and the cam belt, wht is the problem?

The valve timing must be out. You will need to verify that the timing marks on your camshaft sprocket(s) are set at the correct position when you rotate the engine to the compression stroke on TDC.

How to change my cambelt, and where to buy

ok its not a cam belt its a timing belt its on the passanger side in a front wheel drive car you can get one at any auto parts store but when you go to replace it mark the pullys with a paint marker so you know they are lined up when you replace it otherwise tou pistons will come up and hit your valves distroying your heads and ruening your motor

I changed the cambelt on a 406 1.9 turbo diesel it fires but the engine will not run (r reg)

You've probably allowed the crankshaft to move while you had the belt off, putting the timing out by a small amount. There will be some kind of marks top and bottom somewhere to align before you put the belt backon. I need to do this preventative maintenance on my 406 2litre diesel - I'm trying to work out how difficult it is!
